An-Najm

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَىٰ

Wannajmi izaa hawaa

By the Star when it setteth,

قسم ہے تارے کی جب گرے [۱]

مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمْ وَمَا غَوَىٰ

Maa dalla saahibukum wa maa ghawaa

Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived;

بہکا نہیں تمہارا رفیق اور نہ بے راہ چلا [۲]

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلْهَوَىٰٓ

Wa maa yyantiqu 'anilhawaaa

Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire.

اور نہیں بولتا اپنے نفس کی خواہش سے

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْىٌۭ يُوحَىٰ

In huwa illaa Wahyuny yoohaa

It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired,

یہ تو حکم ہے بھیجا ہوا [۳]

عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱلْقُوَىٰ

'Allamahoo shadeedul quwaa

Which one of mighty powers hath taught him,

اُسکو سکھلایا ہے سخت قوتوں والے نے زورآور نے [۴]

ذُو مِرَّةٍۢ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ

Zoo mirratin fastawaa

One vigorous; and he grew clear to view

پھر سیدھا بیٹھا

وَهُوَ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ

Wa huwa bil ufuqil a'laa

When he was on the uppermost horizon.

اور وہ تھا اُونچے کنارے پر آسمان کے [۵]

ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

Summa danaa fatadalla

Then he drew nigh and came down

پھر نزدیک ہوا اور لٹک آیا

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ

Fakaana qaaba qawsaini aw adnaa

Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer,

پھر رہ گیا فرق دو کمان کی برابر یا اس سے بھی نزدیک

فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦ مَآ أَوْحَىٰ

Fa awhaaa ilaa 'abdihee maaa awhaa

And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed.

پھر حکم بھیجا اللہ نے اپنے بندہ پر جو بھیجا [۶]

مَا كَذَبَ ٱلْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ

Maa kazabal fu'aadu maa ra aa

The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw.

جھوٹ نہیں کہا رسول کے دل نے جو دیکھا [۷]

أَفَتُمَٰرُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ

Afatumaaroonahoo 'alaa maayaraa

Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth?

اب کیا تم اُس سے جھگڑتے ہو اُس پر جو اُس نے دیکھا [۱۸]

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَىٰ

Wa laqad ra aahu nazlatan ukhraa

And verily he saw him yet another time

اور اُسکو اُس نے دیکھا ہے اترتے ہوئے ایک بار اور بھی

عِندَ سِدْرَةِ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

'Inda sidratil muntaha

By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary,

سدرۃ المنتہٰی کے پاس

عِندَهَا جَنَّةُ ٱلْمَأْوَىٰٓ

'Indahaa jannatul maawaa

Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode.

اُس کے پاس ہے بہشت آرام سے رہنے کی [۹]

إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ

Iz yaghshas sidrata maa yaghshaa

When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree,

جب چھا رہا تھا اُس بیری پر جو کچھ چھا رہا تھا [۱۰]

مَا زَاغَ ٱلْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ

Maa zaaghal basaru wa maa taghaa

The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold.

بہکی نہیں نگاہ اور نہ حد سے بڑھی [۱۱]

لَقَدْ رَأَىٰ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِ رَبِّهِ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ

Laqad ra aa min aayaati Rabbihil kubraaa

Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord.

بیشک دیکھے اُس نے اپنے رب کے بڑے نمونے [۱۲]

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱللَّٰتَ وَٱلْعُزَّىٰ

Afara'aytumul laata wal 'uzzaa

Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza

بھلا دیکھو تو لات اور عزّیٰ کو

وَمَنَوٰةَ ٱلثَّالِثَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ

Wa manaatas saalisatal ukhraa

And Manat, the third, the other?

اور منات تیسرے پچھلے کو [۱۳]

أَلَكُمُ ٱلذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ

A-lakumuz zakaru wa lahul unsaa

Are yours the males and His the females?

کیا تم کو تو ملے بیٹے اور اُسکو بیٹیاں

تِلْكَ إِذًۭا قِسْمَةٌۭ ضِيزَىٰٓ

Tilka izan qismatun deezaa

That indeed were an unfair division!

یہ بانٹا تو بہت بھونڈا [۱۴]

إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءٌۭ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٍ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَمَا تَهْوَى ٱلْأَنفُسُ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مِّن رَّبِّهِمُ ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ

In hiya illaaa asmaaa'un sammaitumoohaaa antum wa aabaaa'ukum maaa anzalal laahu bihaa min sultaan; inyyattabi'oona illaz zanna wa maa tahwal anfusu wa laqad jaaa'ahum mir Rabbihimul hudaa

They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them.

یہ سب نام ہیں جو رکھ لئے ہیں تم نے اور تمہارے باپ دادوں نے اللہ نے نہیں اتاری اُنکی کوئی سند [۱۵] محض اٹکل پرچلتے ہیں اور جو جیوں کی امنگ ہے اور پہنچی ہے اُنکو اُنکے رب سے راہ کی سوجھ [۱۶]

أَمْ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ

Am lil insaani maa taman naa

Or shall man have what he coveteth?

کہیں آدمی کو ملتا ہے جوکچھ چاہے

فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْءَاخِرَةُ وَٱلْأُولَىٰ

Falillaahil aakhiratu wal oolaa

But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former.

سو اللہ کے ہاتھ ہے سب بھلائی پچھلی اور پہلی [۱۷]

۞ وَكَم مِّن مَّلَكٍۢ فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ لَا تُغْنِى شَفَٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن يَأْذَنَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَرْضَىٰٓ

Wa kam mim malakin fissamaawaati laa tughnee shafaa'atuhum shai'an illaa mim ba'di anyyaazanal laahu limany yashaaa'u wa yardaa

And how many angels are in the heavens whose intercession availeth naught save after Allah giveth leave to whom He chooseth and accepteth.

اور بہت فرشتے ہیں آسمانوں میں کچھ کام نہیں آتی اُنکی سفارش مگر جب حکم دے اللہ جسکے واسطے چاہے اور پسند کرے [۱۸]

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْءَاخِرَةِ لَيُسَمُّونَ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ تَسْمِيَةَ ٱلْأُنثَىٰ

innal lazeena laa yu'minoona bil aakhirati la yusammoonal malaaa'ikata tasmiyatal unsaa

Lo! it is those who disbelieve in the Hereafter who name the angels with the names of females.

جو لوگ یقین نہیں رکھتے آخرت کا وہ نام رکھتے ہیں فرشتوں کے زنانے نام

وَمَا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ ۖ وَإِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ شَيْـًۭٔا

Wa maa lahum bihee min 'ilmin iny yattabi'oona illaz zanna wa innaz zanna laa yughnee minal haqqi shai'aa

And they have no knowledge thereof. They follow but a guess, and lo! a guess can never take the place of the truth.

اور اُنکو اُس کی کچھ خبر نہیں محض اٹکل پر چلتےہیں اوراٹکل کچھ کام نہ آئے ٹھیک بات میں [۱۹]

فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا

Fa a'rid 'am man tawallaa 'an zikrinaa wa lam yurid illal hayaatad dunyaa

Then withdraw (O Muhammad) from him who fleeth from Our remembrance and desireth but the life of the world.

سو تو دھیان نہ کر اُس پر جو منہ موڑے ہماری یاد سے اور کچھ نہ چاہے مگر دنیا کا جینا

ذَٰلِكَ مَبْلَغُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن ضَلَّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ

Zalika mablaghuhum minal 'ilm; inna rabbaka huwa a'lamu biman dalla 'an sabee lihee wa huwa a'lamu bimanih tadaa

Such is their sum of knowledge. Lo! thy Lord is Best Aware of him who strayeth, and He is Best Aware of him whom goeth right.

بس یہیں تک پہنچی اُنکی سمجھ [۲۰] تحقیق تیرا رب ہی خوب جانے اُسکو جو بہکا اُسکی راہ سے اور وہی خوب جانے اُسکو جو راہ پر آیا [۲۱]

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسَٰٓـُٔوا۟ بِمَا عَمِلُوا۟ وَيَجْزِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا۟ بِٱلْحُسْنَى

Wa lillaahi maa fis samaawaati wa maa fil ardi liyajziyal lazeena asaaa'oo bimaa 'amiloo wa yajziyal lazeena ahsanoo bilhusnaa

And unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good with goodness.

اور اللہ کا ہے جو کچھ ہے آسمانوں میں اور زمین میں تاکہ وہ بدلا دے برائی والوں کو اُنکے کئے کا اور بدلا دے بھلائی والوں کو بھلائی سے [۲۲]

ٱلَّذِينَ يَجْتَنِبُونَ كَبَٰٓئِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّمَمَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ وَٰسِعُ ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ ۚ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌۭ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓا۟ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱتَّقَىٰٓ

Allazeena yajtaniboona kabaaa'iral ismi walfawaa hisha illal lamam; inna rabbaka waasi'ul maghfirah; huwa a'lamu bikum iz ansha akum minal ardi wa iz antum ajinnatun fee butooni umma haatikum falaa tuzakkooo anfusakum huwa a'lamu bimanit taqaa

Those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations, save the unwilled offences - (for them) lo! thy Lord is of vast mercy. He is Best Aware of you (from the time) when He created you from the earth, and when ye were hidden in the bellies of your mothers. Therefor ascribe not purity unto yourselves. He is Best Aware of him who wardeth off (evil).

جو کہ بچتے ہیں بڑے گناہوں سے اور بیحیائی کے کاموں سے مگر کچھ آلودگی [۲۳] بیشک تیرے رب کی بخشش میں بڑی سمائی ہے [۲۴] وہ تم کو خوب جانتا ہے جب بنا نکالا تم کو زمین سے اور جب تم بچے تھے ماں کے پیٹ میں سو مت بیان کر اپنی خوبیاں وہ خوب جانتا ہے اُس کو جو بچ کرچلا [۲۵]

أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ

Afara'ayatal lazee tawallaa

Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away,

بھلا تو نے دیکھا اُس کو جس نے منہ پھیر لیا [۲۶]

وَأَعْطَىٰ قَلِيلًۭا وَأَكْدَىٰٓ

Wa a'taa qaleelanw wa akdaa

And gave a little, then was grudging?

اور لایا تھوڑا سا اور سخت نکلا [۲۷]

أَعِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ

A'indahoo 'ilmul ghaibi fahuwa yaraa

Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth?

کیا اُسکے پاس خبر ہے غیب کی سو وہ دیکھتا ہے [۲۸]

أَمْ لَمْ يُنَبَّأْ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ

Am lam yunabbaa bimaa fee suhuhfi Moosa

Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses

کیا اسکو خبر نہیں پہنچی اُسکی جو ہے ورقوں میں موسٰی کے

وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٱلَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ

Wa Ibraaheemal lazee waffaaa

And Abraham who paid his debt:

اور ابراہیم کے جس نے کہ اپنا قول پورا اتارا [۲۹]

أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ

Allaa taziru waaziratunw wizra ukhraa

That no laden one shall bear another's load,

کہ اٹھاتا نہیں کوئی اٹھانے والا بوجھ کسی دوسرے کا [۳۰]

وَأَن لَّيْسَ لِلْإِنسَٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ

Wa al laisa lil insaani illaa maa sa'aa

And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort,

اور یہ کہ آدمی کو وہی ملتا ہے جو اُس نے کمایا [۳۱]

وَأَنَّ سَعْيَهُۥ سَوْفَ يُرَىٰ

Wa anna sa'yahoo sawfa yuraa

And that his effort will be seen.

اور یہ کہ اُسکی کمائی اُسکو دکھلانی ضرور ہے

ثُمَّ يُجْزَىٰهُ ٱلْجَزَآءَ ٱلْأَوْفَىٰ

Summa yujzaahul jazaaa 'al awfaa

And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment;

پھر اُسکو بدلا ملنا ہے اُس کا پورا بدلا [۳۲]

وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلْمُنتَهَىٰ

Wa anna ilaa rabbikal muntahaa

And that thy Lord, He is the goal;

اور یہ کہ تیرے رب تک سب کو پہنچنا ہے [۳۳]

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضْحَكَ وَأَبْكَىٰ

Wa annahoo huwa adhaka wa abkaa

And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep,

اور یہ کہ وہی ہے ہنساتا اور رلاتا

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحْيَا

Wa annahoo huwa amaata wa ahyaa

And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life;

اور یہ کہ وہی ہے مارتا اور جِلاتا

وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰ

Wa annahoo khalaqaz zawjainiz zakara wal unsaa

And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female,

اور یہ کہ اُس نے بنایا جوڑا نر اور مادہ [۳۴]

مِن نُّطْفَةٍ إِذَا تُمْنَىٰ

Min nutfatin izaa tumnaa

From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth;

ایک بوند سے جب ٹپکائی جائے

وَأَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ

Wa anna 'alaihin nash atal ukhraa

And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth;

اور یہ کہ اُس کے ذمہ ہے دوسری دفعہ اٹھانا [۳۵]

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَغْنَىٰ وَأَقْنَىٰ

Wa annahoo huwa aghnaa wa aqnaa

And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth;

اور یہ کہ اُس نے دولت دی اور خزانہ [۳۶]

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلشِّعْرَىٰ

Wa annahoo huwa rabbush shi'raa

And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius;

اور یہ کہ وہی ہے رب شعریٰ کا [۳۷]

وَأَنَّهُۥٓ أَهْلَكَ عَادًا ٱلْأُولَىٰ

Wa annahooo ahlak a 'Aadanil oolaa

And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad,

اور یہ کہ اُس نے غارت کیا عاد پہلے کو [۳۸]

وَثَمُودَا۟ فَمَآ أَبْقَىٰ

Wa samooda famaaa abqaa

And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not;

اور ثمود کو پھر کسی کو باقی نہ چھوڑا

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍۢ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ

Wa qawma Noohim min qablu innahum kaanoo hum azlama wa atghaa

And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious;

اور نوح کی قوم کو پہلے ان سے وہ تو تھے اور بھی ظالم اور شریر [۳۹]

وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ

Wal mu'tafikata ahwaa

And Al-Mu'tafikah He destroyed

اور اُلٹی بستی کو پٹک دیا

فَغَشَّىٰهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ

Faghashshaahaa maa ghashshaa

So that there covered them that which did cover.

پھر آ پڑا اس پرجو کچھ کہ آ پڑا [۴۰]

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ

Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbika tatamaaraa

Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute?

اب تو کیا کیا نعمتیں اپنے رب کی جھٹلائے گا [۴۱]

هَٰذَا نَذِيرٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلنُّذُرِ ٱلْأُولَىٰٓ

Haazaa nazeerum minan nuzuril oolaa

This is a warner of the warners of old.

یہ ایک ڈر سنانے والا ہے پہلے سنانے والوں میں کا [۴۲]

أَزِفَتِ ٱلْءَازِفَةُ

Azifatil laazifah

The threatened Hour is nigh.

آ پہنچی آنے والی

لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ

Laisa lahaa min doonil laahi kaashifah

None beside Allah can disclose it.

کوئی نہیں اُسکو اللہ کے سوائے کھول کر دکھانے والا [۴۳]

أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ

Afamin hazal hadeesi ta'jaboon

Marvel ye then at this statement,

کیا تمکو اس بات سےتعجب ہوا ہے

وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ

Wa tadhakoona wa laa tabkoon

And laugh and not weep,

اور ہنستےہو اور روتے نہیں

وَأَنتُمْ سَٰمِدُونَ

Wa antum saamidoon

While ye amuse yourselves?

اور تم کھلاڑیاں کرتے ہو [۴۴]

فَٱسْجُدُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَٱعْبُدُوا۟ ۩

Fasjudoo lillaahi wa'budoo

Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him.

سو سجدہ کرو اللہ کے آگے اور بندگی [۴۵]
