The hypocrites: words that do not reach the heart.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُوا۟ نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
Izaa jaaa'akal munaafiqoona qaaloo nashhadu innaka la rasoolul laah; wallaahu ya'lamu innaka la rasooluhoo wallaahu yashhadu innal munaafiqeena lakaaziboon
When the hypocrites come unto thee (O Muhammad), they say: We bear witness that thou art indeed Allah's messenger. And Allah knoweth that thou art indeed His messenger, and Allah beareth witness that the hypocrites indeed are speaking falsely.
جب آئیں تیرے پاس منافق کہیں ہم قائل ہیں تو رسول ہے اللہ کا [۱] اور اللہ جانتا ہے کہ تو اُس کا رسول ہے اور اللہ گواہی دیتا ہے کہ یہ منافق جھوٹے ہیں [۲]
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةًۭ فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
Ittakhazoo aymaanahum junnatan fasaddoo 'an sabeelil laah; innahum saaa'a maa kaanoo ya'maloon
They make their faith a pretext so that they may turn (men) from the way of Allah. Verily evil is that which they are wont to do,
انہوں نے رکھا ہے اپنی قسموں کو ڈھال بنا کر [۳] پھر روکتے ہیں اللہ کی راہ سے یہ لوگ برے کام ہیں جو کر رہے ہیں [۴]
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا۟ ثُمَّ كَفَرُوا۟ فَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ
Zaalika bi annahum aamanoo summa kafaroo fatubi'a 'alaa quloobihim fahum laa yafqahoon
That is because they believed, then disbelieved, therefore their hearts are sealed so that they understand not.
یہ اس لئے کہ وہ ایمان لائے پھر منکر ہو گئے پھر مہر لگ گئ اُنکے دل پر سو وہ اب کچھ نہیں سمجھتے [۵]
۞ وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ تُعْجِبُكَ أَجْسَامُهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَقُولُوا۟ تَسْمَعْ لِقَوْلِهِمْ ۖ كَأَنَّهُمْ خُشُبٌۭ مُّسَنَّدَةٌۭ ۖ يَحْسَبُونَ كُلَّ صَيْحَةٍ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ هُمُ ٱلْعَدُوُّ فَٱحْذَرْهُمْ ۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ
Wa izaa ra aytahum tu'jibuka ajsaamuhum wa iny yaqooloo tasma' liqawlihim kaannahum khushubum musannadah; yahsaboona kulla saihatin 'alaihim; humul 'aduwwu fahzarhum; qaatalahumul laahu annaa yu'fakoon
And when thou seest them their figures please thee; and if they speak thou givest ear unto their speech. (They are) as though they were blocks of wood in striped cloaks. They deem every shout to be against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. Allah confound them! How they are perverted!
اور جب تو دیکھے اُنکو تو اچھے لگیں تجھ کو انکے ڈیل اور اگر بات کہیں سنے تو اُنکی بات [۶] کیسے ہیں جیسے کہ لکڑی لگا دی دیوار سے [۷] جو کوئی چیخے جانیں ہم ہی پر بلا آئی [۸] وہی ہیں دشمن اُن سے بچتا رہ [۹] گردن مارے انکی اللہ کہاں سے پھرے جاتے ہیں [۱۰]
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوْا۟ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Wa izaa qeela lahum ta'aalaw yastaghfir lakum rasoolul laahi lawwaw ru'oo sahum wa ra aytahum yasuddoona wa hum mustakbiroon
And when it is said unto them: Come! The messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you! they avert their faces and thou seest them turning away, disdainful.
اور جب کہیے اُنکو آؤ معاف کرا دے تم کو رسول اللہ کا مٹکاتے ہیں اپنے سر اور تو دیکھےکہ وہ رکتے ہیں اور وہ غرور کرتے ہیں [۱۱]
سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَسْتَغْفَرْتَ لَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ لَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ
Sawaaa'un 'alaihim as taghfarta lahum am lam tastaghfir lahum lany yaghfiral laahu lahum; innal laaha laa yahdil qawmal faasiqeen
Whether thou ask forgiveness for them or ask not forgiveness for them is all one for them; Allah will not forgive them. Lo! Allah guideth not the evil-living folk.
برابر ہے اُن پر تو معافی چاہے اُنکی یا نہ معافی چاہے ہرگز نہ معاف کرے گا اُنکو اللہ بیشک اللہ راہ نہیں دیتا نافرمان لوگوں کو [۱۲]
هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ لَا تُنفِقُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَنْ عِندَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ حَتَّىٰ يَنفَضُّوا۟ ۗ وَلِلَّهِ خَزَآئِنُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ
Humul lazeena yaqooloona laa tunfiqoo 'alaa man inda Rasoolil laahi hatta yanfaddoo; wa lillaahi khazaaa' inus samaawaati wal ardi wa laakinnal munaafiqeena la yafqahoon
They it is who say: Spend not on behalf of those (who dwell) with Allah's messenger that they may disperse (and go away from you); when Allah's are the treasures of the heavens and the earth; but the hypocrites comprehend not.
وہی ہیں جو کہتے ہیں مت خرچ کرو ان پر جو پاس رہتے ہیں رسول اللہ کے یہاں تک کہ متفرق ہو جائیں [۱۳] اور اللہ کے ہیں خزانے آسمانوں کے اور زمین کے ولیکن منافق نہیں سمجھتے [۱۴]
يَقُولُونَ لَئِن رَّجَعْنَآ إِلَى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ لَيُخْرِجَنَّ ٱلْأَعَزُّ مِنْهَا ٱلْأَذَلَّ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ ٱلْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Yaqooloona la'ir raja'naaa ilal madeenati la yukhrijanal a'azzu minhal azall; wa lillaahil 'izzatu wa li Rasoolihee wa lilmu'mineena wa laakinnal munaafiqeena laa ya'lamoon
They say: Surely, if we return to Al-Madinah the mightier will soon drive out the weaker; when might belongeth to Allah and to His messenger and to the believers; but the hypocrites know not.
کہتے ہیں البتہ اگر ہم پھر گئے مدینہ کو تو نکال دے گا جس کا زور ہے وہاں سے کمزور لوگوں کو اور زور تو اللہ کا ہے اور اُسکے رسول کا اور ایمان والوں کا لیکن منافق نہیں جانتے [۱۵]
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُلْهِكُمْ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُكُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ
Yaaa ayyuhal lazeena aamanoo la tulhikum amwaalukum wa laa awlaadukum 'anzikril laah; wa mai-yaf'al zaalika fa-ulaaa'ika humul khaasiroon
O ye who believe! Let not your wealth nor your children distract you from remembrance of Allah. Those who do so, they are the losers.
اے ایمان والو غافل نہ کردیں تم کو تمہاے مال اور تمہاری اولاد اللہ کی یاد سے اور جو کوئی یہ کام کرے تو وہی لوگ ہیں ٹوٹے میں [۱۶]
وَأَنفِقُوا۟ مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَٰكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِىَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَآ أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ قَرِيبٍۢ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Wa anifqoo mim maa razaqnaakum min qabli any-yaatiya ahadakumul mawtu fa yaqoola rabbi law laaa akhkhartaneee ilaaa ajalin qareebin fa assaddaqa wa akum minassaaliheen
And spend of that wherewith We have provided you before death cometh unto one of you and he saith: My Lord! If only thou wouldst reprieve me for a little while, then I would give alms and be among the righteous.
اور خرچ کرو کچھ ہمارا دیا ہوا اُس سے پہلے کہ آ پہنچے تم میں کسی کو موت تب کہے اے رب کیوں نہ ڈھیل دی تو نے مجھ کو ایک تھوڑی سے مدت کہ میں خیرات کرتا اور ہو جاتا نیک لوگوں میں
وَلَن يُؤَخِّرَ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِذَا جَآءَ أَجَلُهَا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
Wa lany yu 'akhkhiral laahu nafsan izaa jaaa'a ajaluhaa; wallaahu khabeerum bimaa ta'maloon
But Allah reprieveth no soul when its term cometh, and Allah is Informed of what ye do.
اور ہرگز نہ ڈھیل دے گا اللہ کسی جی کو جب آ پہنچا اُس کا وعدہ [۱۷] اور اللہ کو خبر ہے جو تم کرتے ہو [۱۸]
