At-Tawba

بَرَآءَةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ عَٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ

Baraaa'atum minal laahi wa Rasooliheee ilal lazeena 'anhattum minal mushrikeen

Freedom from obligation (is proclaimed) from Allah and His messenger toward those of the idolaters with whom ye made a treaty.

(اس سورت کے شروع میں بسم اللہ نہیں لکھی گئ اس کے مختلف اسباب بیان کئے گئے ہیں) [۱] صاف جواب ہے اللہ کی طرف سے اور اسکے رسول کی ان مشرکوں کو جن سے تمہارا عہد ہوا تھا

فَسِيحُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍۢ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى ٱللَّهِ ۙ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْزِى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

Faseehoo fil ardi arba'ata ashhurinw wa'lamoooannakum ghairu mu'jizil laahi wa annal laaha mukhzil kaafireen

Travel freely in the land four months, and know that ye cannot escape Allah and that Allah will confound the disbelievers (in His Guidance).

سو پھر لو اس ملک میں چار مہینے اور جان لو کہ تم نہ تھکا سکو گے اللہ کو اور یہ کہ اللہ رسوا کرنے والا ہے کافروں کو [۲]

وَأَذَٰنٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَجِّ ٱلْأَكْبَرِ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَرِىٓءٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ۙ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ۚ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

Wa azaanum minal laahi wa Rasooliheee ilan naasi yawmal Hajjil Akbari annal laaha bareee'um minal mushrikeena wa Rasooluh; fa-in tubtum fahuwa khairullakum wa in tawallaitum fa'lamooo annakum ghairu mu'jizil laah; wa bashiril lazeena kafaroo biazaabin aleem

And a proclamation from Allah and His messenger to all men on the day of the Greater Pilgrimage that Allah is free from obligation to the idolaters, and (so is) His messenger. So, if ye repent, it will be better for you; but if ye are averse, then know that ye cannot escape Allah. Give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom to those who disbelieve,

اور سنا دینا ہے اللہ کی طرف سے اور اس کے رسول کی لوگوں کو دن بڑے حج کے [۳] کہ اللہ الگ ہے مشرکوں سے اور اس کا رسول سو اگر تم توبہ کرو تو تمہارے لئے بہتر ہے اور اگر نہ مانو تو جان لو کہ تم ہرگز نہ تھکا سکو گے اللہ کو اور خوشخبری سنادے کافروں کو عذاب دردناک کی [۴]

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ عَٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنقُصُوكُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَلَمْ يُظَٰهِرُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدًۭا فَأَتِمُّوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَىٰ مُدَّتِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Illal lazeena 'aahattum minal mushrikeena summa lam yanqusookum shai'anw-wa lam yuzaahiroo 'alaikum ahadan fa atimmooo ilaihim 'ahdahum ilaa muddatihim; innal laaha yuhibbul muttaqeen

Excepting those of the idolaters with whom ye (Muslims) have a treaty, and who have since abated nothing of your right nor have supported anyone against you. (As for these), fulfil their treaty to them till their term. Lo! Allah loveth those who keep their duty (unto Him).

مگر جن مشرکوں سے تم نے عہد کیا تھا پھر انہوں نے کچھ قصور نہ کیا تمہارے ساتھ اور مدد نہ کی تمہارے مقابلہ میں کسی کی سو ان سے پورا کر دو ان کا عہد ان کے وعدہ تک بیشک اللہ کو پسند ہیں احتیاط والے [۵]

فَإِذَا ٱنسَلَخَ ٱلْأَشْهُرُ ٱلْحُرُمُ فَٱقْتُلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَٱحْصُرُوهُمْ وَٱقْعُدُوا۟ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍۢ ۚ فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّوا۟ سَبِيلَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

Fa izansalakhal Ashhurul Hurumu faqtulul mushrikeena haisu wajattumoohum wa khuzoohum wahsuroohum qaq'udoo lahum kulla marsad; fa-in taaboo wa aqaamus Salaata wa aatawuz Zakaata fakhalloo sabeelahum; innal laaha Ghafoorur Raheem

Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

پھر جب گذر جائیں مہینے پناہ کے تو مارو مشرکوں کو جہاں پاؤ اور پکڑو اور گھیرو اور بیٹھو ہر جگہ ان کی تاک میں پھر اگر وہ توبہ کریں اور قائم رکھیں نماز اور دیا کریں زکوٰۃ تو چھوڑ دو ان کا رستہ بیشک اللہ ہے بخشنے والا مہربان [۶]

وَإِنْ أَحَدٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ٱسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّىٰ يَسْمَعَ كَلَٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُۥ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌۭ لَّا يَعْلَمُونَ

Wa in ahadum minal mushrikeenas tajaaraka fa ajirhu hattaa yasma'a Kalaamal laahi summa ablighhu maa manah; zaalika bi annahum qawmul laa ya'lamoon

And if anyone of the idolaters seeketh thy protection (O Muhammad), then protect him so that he may hear the Word of Allah, and afterward convey him to his place of safety. That is because they are a folk who know not.

اور اگر کوئی مشرک تجھ سے پناہ مانگے تو اس کو پنادہ دیدے یاں تک کہ وہ سن لے کلام اللہ کا پھر پہنچا دے اسکو اسکی امن کی جگہ یہ اس واسطے کہ وہ لوگ علم نہیں رکھتے [۷]

كَيْفَ يَكُونُ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ عَهْدٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ رَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ عَٰهَدتُّمْ عِندَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ ۖ فَمَا ٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟ لَكُمْ فَٱسْتَقِيمُوا۟ لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Kaifa yakoonu lilmush rikeena 'ahdun 'indallaahi wa 'inda Rasoolihee illal lazeena 'aahattum 'indal Masjidil Haraami famas taqaamoo lakum fastaqeemoo lahum; innallaaha yuhibbul muttaqeen

How can there be a treaty with Allah and with His messenger for the idolaters save those with whom ye made a treaty at the Inviolable Place of Worship? So long as they are true to you, be true to them. Lo! Allah loveth those who keep their duty.

کیونکر ہووے مشرکوں کے لئے عہد اللہ کے نزدیک اور اسکے رسول کے نزدیک مگر جن لوگوں سے تم نے عہد کیا تھا مسجد حرام کے پاس سو جب تک وہ تم سے سیدھے رہیں تم ان سے سیدھے رہو بیشک اللہ کو پسند ہیں احتیاط والے

كَيْفَ وَإِن يَظْهَرُوا۟ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا يَرْقُبُوا۟ فِيكُمْ إِلًّۭا وَلَا ذِمَّةًۭ ۚ يُرْضُونَكُم بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتَأْبَىٰ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ

Kaifa wa iny-yazharoo 'alaikum laa yarquboo feekum illanw wa laa zimmah; yurdoo nakum biafwaahihim wa taabaa quloobuhum wa aksaruhum faasiqoon

How (can there be any treaty for the others) when, if they have the upper hand of you, they regard not pact nor honour in respect of you? They satisfy you with their mouths the while their hearts refuse. And most of them are wrongdoers.

کیونکر رہے صلح اور اگر وہ تم پر قابو پائیں تو نہ لحاظ کریں تمہاری قرابت کا اور نہ عہد کا تم کو راضی کر دیتے ہیں اپنے منہ کی بات سے اور انکے دل نہیں مانتے اور اکثر ان میں بد عہد ہیں [۸]

ٱشْتَرَوْا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ثَمَنًۭا قَلِيلًۭا فَصَدُّوا۟ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

Ishtaraw bi Aayaatil laahi samanan qaleelan fasaddoo 'an sabeelih; innahum saaa'a maa kaanoo ya'maloon

They have purchased with the revelations of Allah a little gain, so they debar (men) from His way. Lo! evil is that which they are wont to do.

بیچ ڈالے انہوں نے اللہ کے حکم تھوڑی قیمت پر پھر روکا اس کے رستہ سے برے کام ہیں جو وہ لوگ کر رہے ہیں [۹]

لَا يَرْقُبُونَ فِى مُؤْمِنٍ إِلًّۭا وَلَا ذِمَّةًۭ ۚ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُعْتَدُونَ

Laa yarquboona fee mu'minin illanw wa laa zimmah wa ulaaa 'ika humulmu 'tadoon

And they observe toward a believer neither pact nor honour. These are they who are transgressors.

نہیں لحاظ کرتے کسی مسلمان کے حق میں قرابت کا اور نہ عہد کا اور وہی ہیں زیادتی پر [۱۰]

فَإِن تَابُوا۟ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ فِى ٱلدِّينِ ۗ وَنُفَصِّلُ ٱلْءَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍۢ يَعْلَمُونَ

Fa in taaboo wa aqaamus Salaata wa aatawuz Zakaata fa ikhwaanukum fid deen; wa nufassilul Aayaati liqawminy ya'lamoon

But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge.

سو اگر توبہ کریں اور قائم رکھیں نماز اور دیتے رہیں زکوٰۃ تو تمہارے بھائی ہیں حکم شریعت میں [۱۱] اور ہم کھول کر بیان کرتے ہیں حکموں کو جاننے والے لوگوں کے واسطے

وَإِن نَّكَثُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ فَقَٰتِلُوٓا۟ أَئِمَّةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ ۙ إِنَّهُمْ لَآ أَيْمَٰنَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَنتَهُونَ

Wa in nakasooo aimaanahum mim ba'di 'ahdihim wa ta'anoo fee deenikum faqaatilooo a'immatal kufri innahum laaa aimaana lahum la'allahum yantahoon

And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist.

اور اگر وہ توڑ دیں اپنی قسمیں عہد کرنے کے بعد اور عیب لگائیں تمہارے دین میں تو لڑو کفر کے سرداروں سے بیشک انکی قسمیں کچھ نہیں تاکہ وہ باز آئیں [۲۱]

أَلَا تُقَٰتِلُونَ قَوْمًۭا نَّكَثُوٓا۟ أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ وَهَمُّوا۟ بِإِخْرَاجِ ٱلرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَءُوكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۚ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ ۚ فَٱللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَوْهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Alaa tuqaatiloona qawman nakasooo aimaanahum wa hammoo bi ikhraajir Rasooli wa hum bada'ookum awwala marrah; atakhshawnahum; fallaahu ahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mu'mineen

Will ye not fight a folk who broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the messenger and did attack you first? What! Fear ye them? Now Allah hath more right that ye should fear Him, if ye are believers

کیا نہیں لڑتے ایسے لوگوں سے جو توڑیں اپنی قسمیں اور فکر میں رہیں کہ رسول کو نکال دیں اور انہوں نے پہلے چھیڑ کی تم سے کیا تم ان سے ڈرتے ہو سو اللہ کا ڈر چاہئے تم کو زیادہ اگر تم ایمان رکھتے ہو [۱۳]

قَٰتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍۢ مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Qaatiloohum yu'az zibhumul laahu bi aideekum wa yukhzihim wa yansurkum 'alaihim wa yashfi sudoora qawmim mu 'mineen

Fight them! Allah will chastise them at your hands, and He will lay them low and give you victory over them, and He will heal the breasts of folk who are believers.

لڑو ان سے تا عذاب دے اللہ انکو تمہارے ہاتھوں اور رسوا کرے اور تم کو ان پر غالب کرے اور ٹھنڈے کرے دل مسلمانوں کے

وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَيَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

Wa yuzhib ghaiza quloobihim; wa yatoobullaahu 'alaa mai yashaaa'; wallaahu 'Aleemun Hakeem

And He will remove the anger of their hearts. Allah relenteth toward whom He will. Allah is Knower, Wise.

اور نکالے ان کے دل کی جلن اور اللہ توبہ نصیب کرے گا جس کو چاہے گا [۱۴] اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے [۱۵]

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُوا۟ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَلِيجَةًۭ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

Am hasibtum an turakoo wa lammaa ya'lamil laahul lazeena jaahadoo minkum wa lam yattakhizoo min doonil laahi wa laa Rasoolihee wa lalmu'mineena waleejah; wallaahu khabeerum bimaa ta'maloon

Or deemed ye that ye would be left (in peace) when Allah yet knoweth not those of you who strive, choosing for familiar none save Allah and His messenger and the believers? Allah is Informed of what ye do.

کیا تم یہ گمان کرتے ہو کہ چھوٹ جاؤ گے اور حالانکہ ابھی معلوم نہیں کیا اللہ نے تم میں سے ان لوگوں کو جنہوں نے جہاد کیا ہے اور نہیں پکڑا انہوں نے سوا اللہ کے اور اسکے رسول کے اور مسلمانوں کے کسی کو بھیدی اور اللہ کو خبر ہے جو تم کر رہے ہو [۱۶]

مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَن يَعْمُرُوا۟ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ شَٰهِدِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِم بِٱلْكُفْرِ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلنَّارِ هُمْ خَٰلِدُونَ

maa kaana lilmushrikeena ai ya'muroo masaajidal laahi shaahideena 'alaaa anfusihim bilkufr; ulaaa'ika habitat a'maaluhum wa fin naari hum khaalidoon

It is not for the idolaters to tend Allah's sanctuaries, bearing witness against themselves of disbelief. As for such, their works are vain and in the Fire they will abide.

مشرکوں کا کام نہیں کہ آباد کریں اللہ کی مسجدیں اور تسلیم کر رہے ہوں اپنے اوپر کفر کو وہ لوگ خراب گئے ان کےعمل اور آگ میں رہیں گے وہ ہمیشہ

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ ۖ فَعَسَىٰٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَن يَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ

Innamaa ya'muru masaa jidal laahi man aamana billaahi wal Yawmil Aakhiri wa aqaamas Salaata wa aataz Zakaata wa lam yakkhsa illal laaha fa'asaaa ulaaa'ika ai yakoonoo minal muhtadeen

He only shall tend Allah's sanctuaries who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor-due and feareth none save Allah. For such (only) is it possible that they can be of the rightly guided.

وہی آباد کرتا ہے مسجدیں اللہ کی جو یقین لایا اللہ پر اور آخرت کے دن پر اور قائم کیا نماز کو اور دیتا رہا زکوٰۃ اور نہ ڈرا سوائے اللہ کے کسی سے سو امیدوار ہیں وہ لوگ کہ ہوویں ہدایت والوں میں [۱۷]

۞ أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ ٱلْحَآجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ كَمَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَجَٰهَدَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ لَا يَسْتَوُۥنَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Aja'altum siqaayatal haaajji wa 'imaaratal masjidil haraami kamman aamana billaahi wal Yawmil Aakhiri wa jaahada fee sabeelil laah; laa yastawoona 'indal laah; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmaz zaalimeen

Count ye the slaking of a pilgrim's thirst and tendance of the Inviolable Place of Worship as (equal to the worth of) him who believeth in Allah and the Last Day, and striveth in the way of Allah? They are not equal in the sight of Allah. Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.

کیا تم نے کر دیا حاجیوں کا پانی پلانا اور مسجد الحرام کا بسانا برابر اس کے جو یقین لایا اللہ پر اور آخرت کےدن پر اور لڑا اللہ کی راہ میں یہ برابر نہیں ہیں اللہ کے نزدیک اور اللہ رستہ نہیں دیتا ظالم لوگوں کو [۱۸]

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَهَاجَرُوا۟ وَجَٰهَدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ

Allazeena aamanoo wa haajaroo wa jaahadoo fee sabeelil laahi bi amwaalihim wa anufsihim a'zamu darajatan 'indal laah; wa ulaaa'ika humul faaa'izoon

Those who believe, and have left their homes and striven with their wealth and their lives in Allah's way are of much greater worth in Allah's sight. These are they who are triumphant.

جو ایمان لائے اور گھر چھوڑ آئے اور لڑے اللہ کی راہ میں اپنے مال اور جان سے ان کے لئے بڑا درجہ ہے اللہ کے ہاں اور وہی مراد کو پہنچنے والے ہیں

يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُم بِرَحْمَةٍۢ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَٰنٍۢ وَجَنَّٰتٍۢ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا نَعِيمٌۭ مُّقِيمٌ

Yubashshiruhum Rabbuhum birahmatim minhu wa ridwaaninw wa Jannaatil lahum feehaa na'eemum muqeem

Their Lord giveth them good tidings of mercy from Him, and acceptance, and Gardens where enduring pleasure will be theirs;

خوشخبری دیتا ہے انکو پروردگار انکا اپنی طرف سے مہربانی کی اور ضامندی کی اور باغوں کی کہ جن میں انکو آرام ہے ہمیشہ کا

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌۭ

Khaalideena feehaaa abadaa; innal laaha 'indahooo ajrun 'azeem

There they will abide for ever. Lo! with Allah there is immense reward.

رہا کریں ان میں مدام بیشک اللہ پاس بڑا ثواب ہے [۱۹]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنَكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ إِنِ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ عَلَى ٱلْإِيمَٰنِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa tattakhizooo aabaaa 'akum wa ikhwaanakum awliyaaa'a inis tahabbul kufra 'alal eemaan; wa mai yatawal lahum minkum fa ulaaa'ika humuz zaalimoon

O ye who believe! Choose not your fathers nor your brethren for friends if they take pleasure in disbelief rather than faith. Whoso of you taketh them for friends, such are wrong-doers.

اےایمان والو مت پکڑو اپنے باپوں کو اور بھائیوں کو رفیق اگر وہ عزیز رکھیں کفر کو ایمان سے اور جو تم میں انکی رفاقت کرے سو وہی لوگ ہیں گنہگار [۲۰]

قُلْ إِن كَانَ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلٌ ٱقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَٰرَةٌۭ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَٰكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَآ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَجِهَادٍۢ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ فَتَرَبَّصُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

Qul in kaana aabaaa'ukum wa abnaaa'ukum wa ikhwaanukum wa azwaajukum wa 'asheeratukum wa amwaaluniq taraftumoohaa wa tijaaratun takhshawna kasaadahaa wa masaakinu tardawnahaaa ahabba ilaikum minal laahi wa Rasoolihee wa Jihaadin fee Sabeelihee fatarabbasoo hattaa yaatiyallaahu bi amrih; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmal faasiqeen

Say: If your fathers, and your sons, and your brethren, and your wives, and your tribe, and the wealth ye have acquired, and merchandise for which ye fear that there will no sale, and dwellings ye desire are dearer to you than Allah and His messenger and striving in His way: then wait till Allah bringeth His command to pass. Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.

تو کہہ دے اگر تمہارے باپ اور بیٹے اور بھائی اور عورتیں اور برادری اور مال جو تم نے کمائے ہیں اور سوداگری جسکے بند ہونے سے تم ڈرتے ہو اور حویلیاں جنکو پسند کرتے ہو تم کو زیادہ پیاری ہیں اللہ سے اور اسکے رسول سے اور لڑنے سے اسکی راہ میں تو انتظار کرو یہاں تک کہ بھیجے اللہ اپنا حکم اور اللہ رستہ نہیں دیتا نافرمان لوگوں کو [۲۱]

لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٍۢ ۙ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ ۙ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنكُمْ شَيْـًۭٔا وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِينَ

Laqad nasarakumul laahu fee mawaatina kaseeratinw wa yawma Hunainin iz a'jabatkum kasratukum falam tughni 'ankum shai'anw wa daaqat 'alaikumul ardu bimaa rahubat summa wallaitum mudbireen

Allah hath given you victory on many fields and on the day of Huneyn, when ye exulted in your multitude but it availed you naught, and the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for you; then ye turned back in flight;

مدد کر چکا ہے اللہ تمہاری بہت میدانوں میں اور حنین کے دن جب خوش ہوئے تم اپنی کثرت پر پھر وہ کچھ کام نہ آئی تمہارے اور تنگ ہو گئی تم پر زمین باوجود اپنی فراخی کے پھر ہٹ گئے تم پیٹھ دے کر

ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنُودًۭا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعَذَّبَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

Summa anzalal laahu sakeenatahoo 'alaa Rasoolihee wa 'alalmu 'mineena wa anzala junoodal lam tarawhaa wa azzabal lazeena kafaroo; wa zaalika jazaaa'ul kaafireen

Then Allah sent His peace of reassurance down upon His messenger and upon the believers, and sent down hosts ye could not see, and punished those who disbelieved. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

پھر اتاری اللہ نے اپنی طرف سے تسکین اپنے رسول پر اور ایمان والوں پر اور اتاریں فوجیں کہ جنکو تم نے نہیں دیکھا اور عذاب دیا کافروں کو اور یہ سزا ہے منکروں کی [۲۲]

ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

Summa yatoobul laahu mim ba'di zaalika 'alaa mai yashaaa'; wallaahu Ghafoorur Raheem

Then afterward Allah will relent toward whom He will; for Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

پھر توبہ نصیب کرے گا اللہ اس کے بعد جس کو چاہے اور اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے [۲۳]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٌۭ فَلَا يَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْمَسْجِدَ ٱلْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَٰذَا ۚ وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةًۭ فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ إِن شَآءَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۭ

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanooo innamal mushrikoona najasun falaa yaqrabul Masjidal Haraama ba'da 'aamihim haaza; wa in khiftum 'ailatan fasawfa yughnee kumul laahu min fadliheee in shaaa'; innallaaha 'Aleemun hakeem

O ye who believe! The idolaters only are unclean. So let them not come near the Inviolable Place of Worship after this their year. If ye fear poverty (from the loss of their merchandise) Allah shall preserve you of His bounty if He will. Lo! Allah is Knower, Wise.

اے ایمان والو مشرک جو ہیں سو پلید ہیں سو نزدیک نہ آنے پائیں مسجدالحرام کے اس برس کے بعد [۲۴] اور اگر تم ڈرتے ہو فقر سے تو آئندہ غنی کر دے گا تم کو اللہ اپنے فضل سے اگر چاہے بیشک اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے [۲۵]

قَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ ٱلْحَقِّ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ حَتَّىٰ يُعْطُوا۟ ٱلْجِزْيَةَ عَن يَدٍۢ وَهُمْ صَٰغِرُونَ

Qaatilul lazeena laa yu'minoona billaahi wa laa bil yawmil Aakhiri wa laa yuharrimoona maa harramal laahu wa Rasooluhoo wa laa yadeenoona deenal haqqi minal lazeena ootul Kitaaba hattaa yu'tul jizyata ai yadinw wa hum saaghiroon

Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.

لڑو ان لوگوں سے جو ایمان نہیں لاتے اللہ پر اور نہ آخرت کے دن پر اور نہ حرام جانتے ہیں اسکو جس کو حرام کیا اللہ نے اور اسکے رسول نے اور نہ قبول کرتے ہیں دین سچا ان لوگوں میں سے جو کہ اہل کتاب ہیں یہاں تک کہ وہ جزیہ دیں اپنے ہاتھ سے ذلیل ہو کر [۲۶]

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ٱبْنُ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالَتِ ٱلنَّصَٰرَى ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ ٱللَّهِ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ ۖ يُضَٰهِـُٔونَ قَوْلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ قَٰتَلَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۚ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

Q qaalatil yahoodu 'Uzairunib nul laahi wa qaalatin Nasaaral Maseehub nul laahi zaalika qawluhum bi afwaahihim yudaahi'oona qawlal lazeena kafaroo min qabl; qatalahumul laah; annaa yu'fakoon

And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!

اور یہود نے کہا کہ عزیر اللہ کا بیٹا ہے [۲۷] اور نصاریٰ نے کہا کہ مسیح اللہ کا بیٹا ہے یہ باتیں کہتے ہیں اپنے منہ سے ریس کرنے لگے اگلے کافروں کی بات کی [۲۸] ہلاک کرے ان کو اللہ کہاں سے پھرے جاتے ہیں [۲۹]

ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَٰنَهُمْ أَرْبَابًۭا مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَٰهًۭا وَٰحِدًۭا ۖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

ittakhazooo ahbaarahum wa ruhbaanahum arbaabammin doonil laahi wal Maseehab na Maryama wa maaa umirooo illaa liya'budooo Ilaahanw Waa hidan laaa ilaaha illaa Hoo; Subhaanahoo 'ammaa yushrikoon

They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One Allah. There is no Allah save Him. Be He Glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!

ٹھہرا لیا اپنے عالموں اور درویشوں کو خدا اللہ کو چھوڑ کر [۳۰] اور مسیح مریم کے بیٹے کو بھی اور انکو حکم یہی ہوا تھا کہ بندگی کریں ایک معبود کی کسی کی بندگی نہیں اسکے سوا وہ پاک ہے ان کے شریک بتلانے سے

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطْفِـُٔوا۟ نُورَ ٱللَّهِ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَيَأْبَى ٱللَّهُ إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ

Yureedoona ai yutfi'oo nooral laahi bi'afwaahihim wa yaaballaahu illaaa ai yutimma noorahoo wa law karihal kaafiroon

Fain would they put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah disdaineth (aught) save that He shall perfect His light, however much the disbelievers are averse.

چاہتے ہیں کہ بھجا دیں روشنی اللہ کی اپنے منہ سے اور اللہ نہ رہے گا بدون پورا کئے اپنی روشنی کے اور پڑے برا مانیں کافر [۳۱]

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَ

huwal lazeee ar sala Rasoolahoo bilhudaa wa deenil haqqi liyuzhirahoo 'alad deeni kullihee wa law karihal mushrikoon

He it is Who hath sent His messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religion, however much the idolaters may be averse.

اسی نے بھیجا اپنے رسول کو ہدایت اور سچا دین دے کر تاکہ اس کو غلبہ دے ہر دین پر اور پڑے برا مانیں مشرک [۳۲]

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّ كَثِيرًۭا مِّنَ ٱلْأَحْبَارِ وَٱلرُّهْبَانِ لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلْبَٰطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ ٱلذَّهَبَ وَٱلْفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍۢ

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanooo inna kaseeramminal ahbaari warruhbaani la yaakuloona amwaalan naasi bil baatili wa yasuddoona 'an sabeelil laah; wallazeena yaknizoonaz zahaba wal fiddata wa laayunfiqoonahaa fee sabeelil laahi fabashshirhum bi'azaabin aleem

O ye who believe! Lo! many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks devour the wealth of mankind wantonly and debar (men) from the way of Allah. They who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah, unto them give tidings (O Muhammad) of a painful doom,

اے ایمان والو بہت سے عالم اور درویش اہل کتاب کے کھاتے ہیں مال لوگوں کے ناحق اور روکتے ہیں اللہ کی راہ سے [۳۳] اور جو لوگ گاڑھ کر رکھتے ہیں سونا اور چاندی اور اسکو خرچ نہیں کرتے اللہ کی راہ میں سو انکو خوشخبری سنا دے عذاب دردناک کی [۳۴]

يَوْمَ يُحْمَىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْوَىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ ۖ هَٰذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَ

Yawma yuhmaa 'alaihaa fee naari jahannama fatukwaa bihaa jibaahuhum haazaa maa kanaztum li anfusikum fazooqoo maa kuntum taknizoon

On the day when it will (all) be heated in the fire of hell, and their foreheads and their flanks and their backs will be branded therewith (and it will be said unto them): Here is that which ye hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what ye used to hoard.

جس دن کہ آگ دہکائیں گے اس مال پر دوزخ کی پھر داغیں گے اس سے ان کے ماتھے اور کروٹیں اور پیٹھیں (کہا جائے گا) یہ ہے جو تم نے گاڑھ کر رکھا تھا اپنے واسطے اب چکھو مزا اپنے گاڑھنے کا [۳۵]

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًۭا فِى كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ ۚ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا۟ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ وَقَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةًۭ كَمَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةًۭ ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Inna 'iddatash shuhoori 'indal laahis naa 'ashara shahran fee Kitaabil laahi yawma khalaqas samaawaati wal arda minhaaa arba'atun hurum; zaalikad deenul qaiyim; falaa tazlimoo feehinna anfusakum; wa qaatilul mushrikeena kaaaf fattan kamaa yuqaati loonakum kaaaffah; wa'lamooo annal laaha ma'al muttaqeen

Lo! the number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah's ordinance in the day that He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred: that is the right religion. So wrong not yourselves in them. And wage war on all of the idolaters as they are waging war on all of you. And know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).

مہینوں کی گنتی اللہ کے نزدیک بارہ مہینے ہیں اللہ کےحکم میں جس دن اس نے پیدا کئے تھے آسمان اور زمین ان میں چار مہینے ہیں ادب کے یہی ہے سیدھا دین [۳۶] سو ان میں ظلم مت کرو اپنے اوپر اور لڑو سب مشرکوں سے ہر حال میں جیسے وہ لڑتے ہیں تم سب سے ہر حال میں اور جان لو کہ اللہ ساتھ ہے ڈرنے والوں کے [۳۷]

إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّسِىٓءُ زِيَادَةٌۭ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ ۖ يُضَلُّ بِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُحِلُّونَهُۥ عَامًۭا وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُۥ عَامًۭا لِّيُوَاطِـُٔوا۟ عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ فَيُحِلُّوا۟ مَا حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ أَعْمَٰلِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

Innamma naseee'u ziyaadatun filkufri yudallu bihillazeena kafaroo yuhil loonahoo 'aamanw wa yuhar rimoonahoo 'aamalliyu watti'oo 'iddata maa harramal laah; zuyyina lahum sooo'u a'maalihim; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmal kaafireen

Postponement (of a sacred month) is only an excess of disbelief whereby those who disbelieve are misled; they allow it one year and forbid it (another) year, that they may make up the number of the months which Allah hath hallowed, so that they allow that which Allah hath forbidden. The evil of their deeds is made fairseeming unto them. Allah guideth not the disbelieving folk.

یہ جو مہینہ ہٹا دینا ہے سو بڑھائی ہوئی بات ہے کفر کےعہد میں گمراہی میں پڑتے ہیں اس سے کافر حلال کر لیتے ہیں اُس مہینہ کو ایک برس اور حرام رکھتے ہیں دوسرے برس تاکہ پوری کر لیں گنتی ان مہینوں کی جو اللہ نے ادب کے لئے رکھے ہیں پھر حلال کر لیتے ہیں جو مہینہ کہ اللہ نے حرام کیا بھلے کر دیئے گئے انکی نظر میں ان کے برے کام اور اللہ راستہ نہیں دیتا کافر لوگوں کو [۳۸]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ ٱنفِرُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ٱثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ أَرَضِيتُم بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا مِنَ ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۚ فَمَا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo maa lakum izaa qeela lakumun firoo fee sabeelil laahis saaqaltum ilal ard; aradeetum bilhayaatid dunyaa minal Aakhirah; famaa ma taaul hayaatiddunyaa fil Aakhirati illaa qaleel

O ye who believe! What aileth you that when it is said unto you: Go forth in the way of Allah, ye are bowed down to the ground with heaviness. Take ye pleasure in the life of the world rather than in the Hereafter? The comfort of the life of the world is but little in the Hereafter.

اے ایمان والو تم کو کیا ہوا جب تم سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ کوچ کرو اللہ کی راہ میں تو گرے جاتے ہو زمین پر کیا خوش ہو گئے دنیا کی زندگی پر آخرت کو چھوڑ کر سو کچھ نہیں نفع اٹھانا دنیا کی زندگی کا آخرت کے مقابلہ میں مگر بہت تھوڑا [۳۹]

إِلَّا تَنفِرُوا۟ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّوهُ شَيْـًۭٔا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ قَدِيرٌ

Illaa tanfiroo yu'az zibkum 'azaaban aleemanw wa yastabdil qawman ghairakum wa laa tadurroohu shai'aa; wal laahu 'alaa kulli shai'in Qadeer

If ye go not forth He will afflict you with a painful doom, and will choose instead of you a folk other than you. Ye cannot harm Him at all. Allah is Able to do all things.

اگر تم نہ نکلو گے تو دے گا تم کو عذاب دردناک اور بدلے میں لائے گا اور لوگ تمہارے سوا اور کچھ نہ بگاڑ سکو گے تم اس کا اور اللہ سب چیز پر قادر ہے [۴۰]

إِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ ٱللَّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ثَانِىَ ٱثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِى ٱلْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَٰحِبِهِۦ لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَنَا ۖ فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُۥ بِجُنُودٍۢ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ٱلسُّفْلَىٰ ۗ وَكَلِمَةُ ٱللَّهِ هِىَ ٱلْعُلْيَا ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

Illaa tansuroohu faqad nasarahul laahu iz akhrajahul lazeena kafaroo saaniyasnaini iz humaa filghaari iz yaqoolu lisaahibihee la tahzan innnal laaha ma'anaa fa anzalallaahu sakeenatahoo 'alaihi wa aiyadahoo bijunoodil lam tarawhaa wa ja'ala kalimatal lazeena kafarus suflaa; wa Kalimatul laahi hiyal 'ulyaa; wallaahu 'Azeezun Hakeem;

If ye help him not, still Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him forth, the second of two; when they two were in the cave, when he said unto his comrade: Grieve not. Lo! Allah is with us. Then Allah caused His peace of reassurance to descend upon him and supported him with hosts ye cannot see, and made the word of those who disbelieved the nethermost, while Allah's Word it was that became the uppermost. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

اگر تم نہ مدد کرو گے رسول کی تو اس کی مدد کی ہے اللہ نے جس وقت اس کو نکالا تھا کافروں نے کہ وہ دوسرا تھا دو میں کا جب وہ دونوں تھے غار میں جب وہ کہہ رہا تھا اپنے رفیق سے تو غم نہ کھا بیشک اللہ ہمارے ساتھ ہے پھر اللہ نے اتاری اپنی طرف سے اس پر تسکین اور اسکی مدد کو وہ فوجیں بھیجیں کہ تم نے نہیں دیکھیں اور نیچے ڈالی کافروں کی اور اللہ کی بات ہمیشہ اوپر ہے اور اللہ زبردست ہے حکمت والا [۴۱]

ٱنفِرُوا۟ خِفَافًۭا وَثِقَالًۭا وَجَٰهِدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

Infiroo khifaafanw wa siqaalanw wa jaahidoo bi amwaalikum wa anfusikum fee sabeelil laah; zaalikum khairul lakum in kuntum ta'lamoon

Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but knew.

نکلو ہلکے اور بوجھل [۴۲] اور لڑو اپنے مال سے اور جان سے اللہ کی راہ میں یہ بہتر ہے تمہارے حق میں اگر تم کو سمجھ ہے [۴۳]

لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًۭا قَرِيبًۭا وَسَفَرًۭا قَاصِدًۭا لَّٱتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشُّقَّةُ ۚ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَوِ ٱسْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

Law kaana 'aradan qareebanw wa safaran qaasidal lattaba'ooka wa laakim ba'udat 'alaihimush shuqqah; wa sayahlifoona billaahi lawis tata'naa lakharajnaa ma'akum; yuhlikoona anfusahum wal laahu ya'lamu innahum lakaa ziboon

Had it been a near adventure and an easy journey they had followed thee, but the distance seemed too far for them. Yet will they swear by Allah (saying): If we had been able we would surely have set out with you. They destroy their souls, and Allah knoweth that they verily are liars.

اگر مال ہو تا نزدیک اور سفر ہلکا تو وہ لوگ ضرور تیرے ساتھ ہو لیتے لیکن لمبی نظر آئی ان کو مسافت [۴۴] اور اب قسمیں کھائیں گے اللہ کی کہ اگر ہم سے ہو سکتا تو ہم ضرور چلتے تمہارے ساتھ وبال میں ڈالتے ہیں اپنی جانوں کو اور اللہ جانتا ہےکہ وہ جھوٹے ہیں [۴۵]

عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَتَعْلَمَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ

'Afal laahu 'anka lima azinta lahum hattaa yatabai yana lakal lazeena sadaqoo wa ta'lamal kaazibeen

Allah forgive thee (O Muhammad)! Wherefor didst thou grant them leave ere those who told the truth were manifest to thee and thou didst know the liars?

اللہ بخشے تجھ کو کیوں رخصت دے دی تو نے انکو یہاں تک کہ ظاہر ہو جاتے تجھ پر سچ کہنے والے اور جان لیتا تو جھوٹوں کو [۴۶]

لَا يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ أَن يُجَٰهِدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Laa yastaazinukal lazeena yu'minoona billaahi wal Yawmil Aakhiri ai yujaa hidoo bi amwaalihim wa anfusihim; wallaahu 'aleemum bilmut taqeen

Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day ask no leave of thee lest they should strive with their wealth and their lives. Allah is Aware of those who keep their duty (unto Him).

نہیں رخصت مانگتے تجھ سے وہ لوگ جو ایمان لائے اللہ پر اور آخرت کے دن پر اس سے کہ لڑیں اپنے مال اور جان سے اور اللہ خوب جانتا ہے ڈر والوں کو

إِنَّمَا يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَٱرْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِى رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ

Innamaa yastaazinukal lazeena laa yu'minoona billaahi wal Yawmil Aakhiri wartaabat quloobuhum fahum fee raibihim yataraddadoon

They alone ask leave of thee who believe not in Allah and the Last Day, and whose hearts feel doubt, so in their doubt they waver.

رخصت وہی مانگتے ہیں تجھ سے جو نہیں ایمان لائے اللہ پر اور آخرت کے دن پر اور شک میں پڑے ہیں دل ان کے سو وہ اپنے شک ہی میں بھٹک رہے ہیں [۴۷]

۞ وَلَوْ أَرَادُوا۟ ٱلْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّوا۟ لَهُۥ عُدَّةًۭ وَلَٰكِن كَرِهَ ٱللَّهُ ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ ٱقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ

Wa law araadul khurooja la-'addoo lahoo 'uddatanw wa laakin karihal laahum bi'aasahum fasabbatahum wa qeelaq 'udoo ma'al qaa'ideen

And if they had wished to go forth they would assuredly have made ready some equipment, but Allah was averse to their being sent forth and held them back and it was said (unto them): Sit ye with the sedentary!

اور اگر وہ چاہتے نکلنا تو ضرور تیار کرتے کچھ سامان اس کا لیکن پسند نہ کیا اللہ نے ان کا اٹھنا سو روک دیا انکو اور حکم ہوا کہ بیٹھے رہو ساتھ بیٹھنے والوں کے [۴۸]

لَوْ خَرَجُوا۟ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالًۭا وَلَأَوْضَعُوا۟ خِلَٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّٰعُونَ لَهُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Law kharajoo feekum maa zaadookum ilaa Khabaalanw wa la awda'oo khilaalakum yabghoona kumul fitnata wa feekum sammaa'oona lahum; wallaahu 'aleemum biz zaalimeen

Had they gone forth among you they had added to you naught save trouble and had hurried to and fro among you, seeking to cause sedition among you; and among you there are some who would have listened to them. Allah is Aware of evil-doers.

اگر نکلتےتم میں تو کچھ نہ بڑھاتے تمہارے لئے مگر خرابی اور گھوڑے دوڑاتے تمہارے اندر بگاڑ کروانے کی تلاش میں [۴۹] اور تم میں بعضے جاسوس ہیں انکے اور اللہ خوب جانتا ہے ظالموں کو [۵۰]

لَقَدِ ٱبْتَغَوُا۟ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا۟ لَكَ ٱلْأُمُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ

Laqadib taghawul fitnata min qablu wa qallaboo lakal umoora hattaa jaaa'al haqqu wa zahara amrul laahi wa hum kaarihoon

Aforetime they sought to cause sedition and raised difficulties for thee till the Truth came and the decree of Allah was made manifest, though they were loth.

وہ تلاش کرتے رہے ہیں بگاڑ کی پہلے سے اور الٹتے رہے ہیں تیرے کام یہاں تک کہ آ پہنچا سچا وعدہ اور غالب رہا حکم اللہ کا اور وہ ناخوش ہی رہے [۵۱]

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ٱئْذَن لِّى وَلَا تَفْتِنِّىٓ ۚ أَلَا فِى ٱلْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوا۟ ۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌۢ بِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

Wa minhum mai yaqoolu' zal lee wa laa taftinneee; alaa fil fitnati saqatoo; wa inna Jahannama lamuheetatum bil kaafireen

Of them is he who saith: Grant me leave (to stay at home) and tempt me not. Surely it is into temptation that they (thus) have fallen. Lo! hell verily is all around the disbelievers.

اور بعضے ان میں کہتے ہیں مجھ کو رخصت دے اور گمراہی میں نہ ڈال سنتا ہے وہ تو گمراہی میں پڑ چکے ہیں اور بیشک دوزخ گھیر رہی ہے کافروں کو [۵۲]

إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٌۭ تَسُؤْهُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٌۭ يَقُولُوا۟ قَدْ أَخَذْنَآ أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّوا۟ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَ

in tusibka hasanatun tasu'hum; wa in tusibka museebatuny yaqooloo qad akhaznaaa amranaa min qablu wa yatawallaw wa hum farihoon

If good befalleth thee (O Muhammad) it afflicteth them, and if calamity befalleth thee, they say: We took precaution, and they turn away well pleased.

اگر تجھ کو پہنچے کوئی خوبی تو وہ بری لگتی ہے انکو اور اگر پہنچے کوئی سختی تو کہتےہیں ہم نے تو سنبھال لیا تھا اپنا کام پہلے ہی اور پھر کر جائیں خوشیاں کرتے [۵۳]

قُل لَّن يُصِيبَنَآ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَنَا هُوَ مَوْلَىٰنَا ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

Qul lany-yuseebanaaa illaa maa katabal laahu lanaa Huwa mawlaanaa; wa 'alal laahi falyatawak kalimu 'minoon

Say: Naught befalleth us save that which Allah hath decreed for us. He is our Protecting Friend. In Allah let believers put their trust!

تو کہہ دے ہم کو ہر گز نہ پہنچے گا مگر وہی جو لکھ دیا اللہ نے ہمارے لئے وہی ہے کارساز ہمارا اور اللہ ہی پر چاہئے کہ بھروسہ کریں مسلمان

قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْدَى ٱلْحُسْنَيَيْنِ ۖ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيبَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِعَذَابٍۢ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦٓ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَا ۖ فَتَرَبَّصُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَ

Qul hal tarabbasoona binaaa illaaa ihdal husnayayni wa nahnu natrabbasu bikum ai yus eebakumul laahu bi'azaa bim min 'indiheee aw biaidee naa fatarabbasooo innaa ma'akum mutarabbisoon

Say: Can ye await for us aught save one of two good things (death or victory in Allah's way)? while we await for you that Allah will afflict you with a doom from Him or at our hands. Await then! Lo! We are awaiting with you.

تو کہہ دے تم کیا امید کرو گے ہمارے حق میں مگر دو خوبیوں میں سے ایک کی اور ہم امیدوار ہیں تمہارے حق میں کہ ڈالے تم پر اللہ کوئی عذاب اپنے پاس سے یا ہمارے ہاتھوں سو منتظر رہو ہم بھی تمہارے ساتھ منتظر ہیں [۵۴]

قُلْ أَنفِقُوا۟ طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًۭا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمْ ۖ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًۭا فَٰسِقِينَ

Qul anfiqoo taw'an aw karhal lany yutaqabbala min kum innakum kuntum qawman faasiqeen

Say: Pay (your contribution), willingly or unwillingly, it will not be accepted from you. Lo! ye were ever froward folk.

کہہ دے کہ مال خرچ کرو خوشی سے یا ناخوشی سے ہر گز قبول نہ ہوگا تم سے بیشک تم نافرمان لوگ ہو [۵۵]

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَٰتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَ

Wa maa mana'ahum an tuqbala minhum nafaqaatuhum illaaa annnahum kafaroo billaahi wa bi Rasoolihee wa laa yaatoonas Salaata illaa wa hum kusaalaa wa laa yunfiqoona illaa wa hum kaarihoon

And naught preventeth that their contributions should be accepted from them save that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His messenger, and they come not to worship save as idlers, and pay not (their contribution) save reluctantly.

اور موقوف نہیں ہوا قبول ہونا ان کے خرچ کا مگر اسی بات پر کہ وہ منکر ہوئے اللہ سے اور اسکے رسول سے اور نہیں آتے نماز کو مگر ہارے جی سے اور خرچ نہیں کرتے مگر برے دل سے [۵۶]

فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

Falaa tu'jibka amwaaluhum wa laaa awlaaduhum; innamaa yureedul laahu liyu'az zibahum bihaa fil hayaatid dunyaa wa tazhaqa anfusuhum wa hum kaafiroon

So let not their riches nor their children please thee (O Muhammad). Allah thereby intendeth but to punish them in the life of the world and that their souls shall pass away while they are disbelievers.

سو تو تعجب نہ کر ان کے مال اور اولاد سے یہی چاہتا ہے اللہ کہ انکو عذاب میں رکھے ان چیزوں کی وجہ دنیا کی زندگی میں اور نکلے ان کی جان اور وہ اس وقت تک کافر ہی رہیں [۵۷]

وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌۭ يَفْرَقُونَ

Wa yahlifoona billaahi innnahum laminkum wa maa hum minkum wa laakinnahum qawmuny yafraqoon

And they swear by Allah that they are in truth of you, when they are not of you, but they are folk who are afraid.

اور قسمیں کھاتے ہیں اللہ کی کہ وہ بیشک تم میں ہیں اور وہ تم میں نہیں و لیکن وہ لوگ ڈرتے ہیں تم سے

لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَـًٔا أَوْ مَغَٰرَٰتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلًۭا لَّوَلَّوْا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَ

Law yajidoona malja'an aw maghaaraatin aw mudda khalal lawallaw ilaihi wa hum yajmahoon

Had they but found a refuge, or caverns, or a place to enter, they surely had resorted thither swift as runaways.

اگر وہ پائیں کوئی پناہ کی جگہ یا غار یا سر گھسانے کو جگہ تو الٹے بھاگیں اسی طرف رسیاں تڑاتے [۵۸]

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَلْمِزُكَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا۟ مِنْهَا رَضُوا۟ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْا۟ مِنْهَآ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ

Wa minhum mai yalmizuka fis sadaqaati fa-in u'too minhaa radoo wa illam yu'taw minhaaa izaa hum yaskhatoon

And of them is he who defameth thee in the matter of the alms. If they are given thereof they are content, and if they are not given thereof, behold! they are enraged.

اور بعضے ان میں وہ ہیں کہ تجھ کو طعن دیتےہیں خیرات بانٹنے میں سو اگر ان کو ملے اس میں سے تو راضی ہوں اور اگر نہ ملے تو جبہی وہ ناخوش ہو جائیں [۵۹]

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُوا۟ مَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَقَالُوا۟ حَسْبُنَا ٱللَّهُ سَيُؤْتِينَا ٱللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ رَٰغِبُونَ

Wa law annahum radoo maaa aataahumul laahu wa Rasooluhoo wa qaaloo hasbunal laahu wayu'teenallaahu min fadlihee wa Rasooluhooo innaaa ilallaahi raaghiboon

(How much more seemly) had they been content with that which Allah and His messenger had given them and had said: Allah sufficeth us. Allah will give us of His bounty, and (also) His messenger. Unto Allah we are suppliants.

اور کیا اچھا ہوتا اگر وہ راضی ہو جاتے اسی پر جو دیا انکو اللہ نے اور اسکے رسول نے اور کہتے کافی ہے ہم کو اللہ وہ دے گا ہم کو اپنے فضل سے اور اس کا رسول ہم کو تو اللہ ہی چاہیئے [۶۰]

۞ إِنَّمَا ٱلصَّدَقَٰتُ لِلْفُقَرَآءِ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَٱلْمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَٱلْغَٰرِمِينَ وَفِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ ۖ فَرِيضَةًۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۭ

Innamas sadaqaatu lilfuqaraaa'i walmasaakeeni wal 'aamileena 'alaihaa wal mu'al lafati quloobuhum wa fir riqaabi walghaarimeena wa fee sabeelil laahi wabnis sabeeli fareedatam minal laah; wal laahu 'Aleemun Hakeem

The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and those who collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free the captives and the debtors, and for the cause of Allah, and (for) the wayfarer; a duty imposed by Allah. Allah is Knower, Wise.

زکوٰۃ جو ہے سو وہ حق ہے مفلسوں کا اور محتاجوں کا اور زکوٰۃ کے کام پر جانے والوں کا اور جن کا دل پرچانا منظور ہے اور گردنوں کے چھڑانے میں اور جو تاوان بھریں اور اللہ کے رستہ میں اور راہ کے مسافر کو ٹھہرایا ہوا ہے اللہ کا اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے [۶۱]

وَمِنْهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ ٱلنَّبِىَّ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ أُذُنٌۭ ۚ قُلْ أُذُنُ خَيْرٍۢ لَّكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَيُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَرَحْمَةٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ

Wa minhumul lazeena yu'zoonan nabiyya wa yaqooloona huwa uzun; qul uzunu khairil lakum yu'minu billaahi wa yu'minu lilmu mi neena wa rahmatul lillazeena aamanoo minkum; wallazeena yu'zoona Rasoolal laahi lahum 'azaabun aleem

And of them are those who vex the Prophet and say: He is only a hearer. Say: A hearer of good for you, who believeth in Allah and is true to the believers, and a mercy for such of you as believe. Those who vex the messenger of Allah, for them there is a painful doom.

اور بعضے ان میں بدگوئی کرتے ہیں نبی کی اور کہتے ہیں کہ یہ شخص تو کان ہے تو کہہ کان ہے تمہارے بھلے کے واسطے یقین رکھتا ہے اللہ پر اور یقین کرتا ہے مسلمانوں کی بات کا اور رحمت ہے ایمان والوں کے حق میں تم میں سے اور جو لوگ بدگوئی کرتے ہیں اللہ کے رسول کی ان کے لئے عذاب ہے دردناک [۶۲]

يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَكُمْ لِيُرْضُوكُمْ وَٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَحَقُّ أَن يُرْضُوهُ إِن كَانُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ

yahlifoona billaahi lakum liyurdookum wallaahu wa Rasooluhoo ahaqqu ai yurdoohu in kaanoo mu'mineen

They swear by Allah to you (Muslims) to please you, but Allah, with His messenger, hath more right that they should please Him if they are believers.

قسمیں کھاتے ہیں اللہ کی تمہارےآگے تاکہ تم کر راضی کریں اور اللہ کو اور اسکے رسول کو بہت ضرور ہے راضی کرنا اگر وہ ایمان رکھتے ہیں [۶۳]

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُۥ مَن يُحَادِدِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَأَنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدًۭا فِيهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْخِزْىُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Alam ya'lamooo annahoo mai yuhaadidillaaha wa Rasoolahoo faanna lahoo Naara jahannama khaalidan feehaa; zaalikal khizyul 'Azeem

Know they not that whoso opposeth Allah and His messenger, his verily is fire of hell, to abide therein? That is the extreme abasement.

کیا وہ جان نہیں چکے کہ جو کوئی مقابلہ کرے اللہ سے اور اسکے رسول سے تو اسکے واسطے ہے دوزخ کی آگ سدا رہے اس میں یہی ہے بڑی رسوائی [۶۴]

يَحْذَرُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ أَن تُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُورَةٌۭ تُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ قُلِ ٱسْتَهْزِءُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخْرِجٌۭ مَّا تَحْذَرُونَ

Yahzarul munaafiqoona an tunaz zala 'alaihim Sooratun tunabbi 'uhum bimaa feequloobihim; qulistahzi'oo innal laaha mukhrijum maa tahzaroon

The hypocrites fear lest a surah should be revealed concerning them, proclaiming what is in their hearts. Say: Scoff (your fill)! Lo! Allah is disclosing what ye fear.

ڈرا کرتے ہیں منافق اس بات سے کہ نازل ہو مسلمانوں پر ایسی سورت کہ جتا دے انکو جو انکے دل میں ہے تو کہہ دے ٹھٹھے کرتے رہو اللہ کھول کر رہے گا اس چیز کو جس کا تم کو ڈر ہے [۶۵]

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَخُوضُ وَنَلْعَبُ ۚ قُلْ أَبِٱللَّهِ وَءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَرَسُولِهِۦ كُنتُمْ تَسْتَهْزِءُونَ

Wala'in sa altahum layaqoolunna innamaa kunnaa nakhoodu wa nal'ab; qul abillaahi wa 'Aayaatihee wa Rasoolihee kuntum tastahzi'oon

And if thou ask them (O Muhammad) they will say: We did but talk and jest. Say: Was it at Allah and His revelations and His messenger that ye did scoff?

اور اگر تو ان سے پوچھے تو وہ کہیں گے ہم تو بات چیت کرتےتھے اور دل لگی [۶۶] تو کہہ کیا اللہ سے اور اسکے حکموں سے اور اسکے رسول سے تم ٹھٹھے کرتے تھے [۶۷]

لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا۟ قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِكُمْ ۚ إِن نَّعْفُ عَن طَآئِفَةٍۢ مِّنكُمْ نُعَذِّبْ طَآئِفَةًۢ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ مُجْرِمِينَ

Laa ta'taziroo qad kafartum ba'da eemaanikum; in na'fu 'an taaa'ifatim minkum nu'az zib taaa'ifatam bi annahum kaanoo mujrimeen

Make no excuse. Ye have disbelieved after your (confession of) belief. If We forgive a party of you, a party of you We shall punish because they have been guilty.

بہانے مت بناؤ تم تو کافر ہو گئے اظہار ایمان کے پیچھے اگر ہم معاف کر دیں گے تم میں سے بعضوں کو تو البتہ عذاب بھی دیں گے بعضوں کو اس سبب سےکہ وہ گنہگار تھے [۶۸]

ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍۢ ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ ۚ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ

Almunaafiqoona wal munaafiqaatu ba'duhum mim ba'd; yaamuroona bilmunkari wa yanhawna 'anil ma'roofi wa yaqbidoona aidiyahum; nasul laaha fanasiyahum; innal munaafiqeena humul faasiqoon

The hypocrites, both men and women, proceed one from another. They enjoin the wrong, and they forbid the right, and they withhold their hands (from spending for the cause of Allah). They forget Allah, so He hath forgotten them. Lo! the hypocrites, they are the transgressors.

منافق مرد اور منافق عورتیں سب کی ایک چال ہے سکھائیں بات بری اور چھڑائیں بات بھلی اوربند رکھیں اپنی مٹھی بھول گئے اللہ کو سو وہ بھول گیا انکو تحقیق منافق وہی ہیں نافرمان [۶۹]

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ هِىَ حَسْبُهُمْ ۚ وَلَعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ مُّقِيمٌۭ

Wa'adal laahul munafiqeena wal munaafiqaati wal kuffaara naara jahannnamma khaalideena feehaa; hiya hasbuhum; wa la'annahumul laahu wa lahum 'azaabum muqeem

Allah promiseth the hypocrites, both men and women, and the disbelievers fire of hell for their abode. It will suffice them. Allah curseth them, and theirs is lasting torment.

وعدہ دیا ہے اللہ نے منافق مرد اور منافق عورتوں کو اور کافروں کو دوزخ کی آگ کا پڑے رہیں گے اس میں وہی بس ہے انکو [۷۰] اور اللہ نے انکو پھٹکار دیا اور انکے لئے عذاب ہے برقرار رہنے والا [۷۱]

كَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةًۭ وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَٰلًۭا وَأَوْلَٰدًۭا فَٱسْتَمْتَعُوا۟ بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ فَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلَٰقِكُمْ كَمَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُم بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَٱلَّذِى خَاضُوٓا۟ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ

Kallazeena min qablikum kaanoo ashadda minkum quwwatanw wa aksara amwaalanw wa awlaadan fastamta'oo bikhalaaqihim fastamta'tum bikhalaaqikum kamas tamta'al lazeena min qablikum bikhalaa qihim wa khudtum kallazee khaadooo; ulaaa'ika habitat a'maaluhum fid dunyaa wal Aakhirati wa ulaaa'ika humul khaasiroon

Even as those before you who were mightier than you in strength, and more affluent than you in wealth and children. They enjoyed their lot awhile, so ye enjoy your lot awhile even as those before you did enjoy their lot awhile. And ye prate even as they prated. Such are they whose works have perished in the world and the Hereafter. Such are they who are the losers.

جس طرح تم سے اگلے لوگ زیادہ تھے تم سے زور میں اور زیادہ رکھتے تھے مال اور اولاد پھر فائدہ اٹھا گئے اپنے حصہ سے [۷۲] پھر فائدہ اٹھایا تم نے اپنے حصہ سے جیسے فائدہ اٹھا گئے تم سے اگلے اپنے حصہ سے اور تم بھی چلتے ہو انہی کی سی چال [۷۳] وہ لوگ مٹ گئے ان کے عمل دنیا میں اور آخرت میں اور وہی لوگ پڑے نقصان میں [۷۴]

أَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍۢ وَعَادٍۢ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصْحَٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتِ ۚ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ ۖ فَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

Alam yaatihim naba ul lazeena min qablihim qawmi Noohinw wa 'Aadinw wa Samooda wa qawmi Ibraaheema wa ashaabi adyana walmu'tafikaat; atathum Rusuluhum bilbaiyinaati famaa kaanal laahu liyazlimahum wa laakin kaanooo anfusahum yazlimoon

Hath not the fame of those before them reached them - the folk of Noah, A'ad, Thamud, the folk of Abraham, the dwellers of Midian and the disasters (which befell them)? Their messengers (from Allah) came unto them with proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). So Allah surely wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves.

کیا پہنچی نہیں انکو خبر ان لوگوں کی جو ان سے پہلے تھے قوم نوح کی اور عاد کی اور ثمود کی اور قوم ابراہیم کی اور مدین والوں کی اور ان بستیوں کی خبر جو الٹ دی گئ تھیں [۷۵] پہنچے انکے پاس انکے رسول صاف حکم لے کر سو اللہ تو ایسا نہ تھا کہ ان پر ظلم کرتا لیکن وہ اپنے اوپر آپ ظلم کرتے تھے [۷۶]

وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍۢ ۚ يَأْمُرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ ۚ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌۭ

Walmu'minoona wal mu'minaatu ba'duhum awliyaaa'u ba;d; yaamuroona bilma'roofi wa yanhawna 'anil munkari wa yuqeemoonas Salaata wa yu'toonaz Zakaata wa yutee'oonal laaha wa Rasoolah; ulaaa'ika sayarhamuhumul laah; innallaaha 'Azeezun Hakeem

And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin the right and forbid the wrong, and they establish worship and they pay the poor-due, and they obey Allah and His messenger. As for these, Allah will have mercy on them. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise.

اور ایمان والے مرد اور ایمان والی عورتیں ایک دوسرے کی مددگار ہیں سکھلاتے ہیں نیک بات اور منع کرتے ہیں بری بات سے اور قائم رکھتے ہیں نماز اور دیتے ہیں زکوٰۃ اور حکم پر چلتے ہیں اللہ کے اور اسکے رسول کے وہی لوگ ہیں جن پر رحم کرے گا اللہ بیشک اللہ زبردست ہے حکمت والا [۷۷]

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةًۭ فِى جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍۢ ۚ وَرِضْوَٰنٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Wa'adal laahulmu' mineena walmu'minaati Jannaatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru khaalideena feehaa wa masaakina taiyibatan fee Jannnaati 'adn; wa ridwaanum minal laahi akbar; zaalika hual fawzul 'azeem

Allah promiseth to the believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide - blessed dwellings in Gardens of Eden. And - greater (far)! - acceptance from Allah. That is the supreme triumph.

وعدہ دیا ہے اللہ نے ایمان والے مردوں اور ایمان والی عورتوں کو باغوں کا کہ بہتی ہیں نیچے ان کے نہریں رہا کریں انہی میں اور ستھرے مکانوں کا رہنے کے باغوں میں اور رضامندی اللہ کی ان سب سے بڑی ہے یہی ہے بڑی کامیابی [۷۸]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ جَٰهِدِ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَٱغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

yaaa aiyuhan Nabiyyu jaahidil kuffaara walmunaafiqeena waghluz 'alaihim; wa maawaahum jahannnamu wa bi'sal maseer

O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them. Their ultimate abode is hell, a hapless journey's end.

اے نبی لڑائی کر کافروں سے اور منافقوں سے اور تندخوئی کر ان پر اور ان کا ٹھکانہ دوزخ ہے اور وہ برا ٹھکانہ ہے [۷۹]

يَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَلَقَدْ قَالُوا۟ كَلِمَةَ ٱلْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوا۟ بَعْدَ إِسْلَٰمِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا۟ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا نَقَمُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَنْ أَغْنَىٰهُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ ۚ فَإِن يَتُوبُوا۟ يَكُ خَيْرًۭا لَّهُمْ ۖ وَإِن يَتَوَلَّوْا۟ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًۭا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْءَاخِرَةِ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا نَصِيرٍۢ

Yahlifoona billaahi wa qaaloo wa laqad qaaloo kalimatal kufri wa kafaroo ba'da Islaamihim wa hammoo bimaa lam yanaaloo; wa maa naqamooo illaaa an aghnaa humullaahu wa Rasooluhoo min fadlih; fainy yatooboo yaku khairal lahum wa iny yatawal law yu'az zibhumullaahu 'azaaban aleeman fiddunyaa wal Aakhirah; wamaa lahum fil ardi minw waliyyinw wa laa naseer

They swear by Allah that they said nothing (wrong), yet they did say the word of disbelief, and did disbelieve after their Surrender (to Allah). And they purposed that which they could not attain, and they sought revenge only that Allah by His messenger should enrich them of His bounty. If they repent it will be better for them; and if they turn away, Allah will afflict them with a painful doom in the world and the Hereafter, and they have no protecting friend nor helper in the earth.

قسمیں کھاتے ہیں اللہ کی کہ ہم نے نہیں کہا اور بیشک کہا ہے انہوں نے لفظ کفر کا اور منکر ہو گئے مسلمان ہو کر [۸۰] اور قصد کیا تھا اس چیز کا جو ان کو نہ ملی [۸۱] اور یہ سب کچھ اسی کا بدلہ تھا کہ دولتمند کر دیا ان کو اللہ نے اور اسکے رسول نے اپنے فضل سےسو اگر توبہ کر لیں تو بھلا ہے ان کے حق میں اور اگر نہ مانیں گے تو عذاب دے گا انکو اللہ عذاب دردناک دنیا اور آخرت میں اور نہیں ان کا روئے زمین پر کوئی حمایتی اور نہ مددگار [۸۲]

۞ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَٰهَدَ ٱللَّهَ لَئِنْ ءَاتَىٰنَا مِن فَضْلِهِۦ لَنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

Wa minhum man 'aaha dal laaha la'in aataanaa min fadlihee lanas saddaqanna wa lanakoonanna minassaaliheen

And of them is he who made a covenant with Allah (saying): If He give us of His bounty we will give alms and become of the righteous.

اور بعضے ان میں وہ ہیں کہ عہد کیا تھا اللہ سے اگر دیوے ہم کو اپنے فضل سے تو ہم ضرور خیرات کریں اور ہو رہیں ہم نیکی والوں میں

فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَىٰهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ بَخِلُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَتَوَلَّوا۟ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

Falammaaa aataahum min fadlihee bakhiloo bihee wa tawallaw wa hum mu'ridoon

Yet when He gave them of His bounty, they hoarded it and turned away, averse;

پھر جب دیا انکو اپنے فضل سے تو اس میں بخل کیا اور پھر گئے ٹلا کر [۸۳]

فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ نِفَاقًۭا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يَلْقَوْنَهُۥ بِمَآ أَخْلَفُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا وَعَدُوهُ وَبِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْذِبُونَ

Fa a'qabahum nifaaqan fee quloobihim ilaa Yawmi yalqaw nahoo bimaaa akhlaful laaha maa wa'adoohu wa bimaa kaanoo yakhziboon

So He hath made the consequence (to be) hypocrisy in their hearts until the day when they shall meet Him, because they broke their word to Allah that they promised Him, and because they lied.

پھر اس کا اثر رکھ دیا نفاق انکے دلوں میں جس دن تک کہ وہ اس سے ملیں گے اس وجہ سے کہ انہوں نے خلاف کیا اللہ سے جو وعدہ اس سے کیا تھا اور اس وجہ سے کہ بولتے تھے جھوٹ [۸۴]

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْوَىٰهُمْ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَّٰمُ ٱلْغُيُوبِ

Alam ya'lamooo annal laaha ya'lamu sirrahum wa najwaahum wa annal laaha 'Allaamul Ghuyoob

Know they not that Allah knoweth both their secret and the thought that they confide, and that Allah is the Knower of Things Hidden?

کیا وہ جان نہیں چکے کہ اللہ جانتا ہے ان کا بھید اور ان کا مشورہ اور یہ کہ اللہ خوب جانتا ہے سب چھپی باتوں کو [۸۵]

ٱلَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ ٱلْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِى ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ ۙ سَخِرَ ٱللَّهُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Allazeena yalmizoonal mut tawwi'eena minalmu'mineena fis sadaqaati wallazeena laa yajidoona illaa juhdahum fayaskharoona minhum sakhiral laahu minhum wa lahum azaabun aleem

Those who point at such of the believers as give the alms willingly and such as can find naught to give but their endeavours, and deride them - Allah (Himself) derideth them. Theirs will be a painful doom.

وہ لوگ جو طعن کرتے ہیں ان مسلمانوں پر جو دل کھول کر خیرات کرتے ہیں اور ان پر جو نہیں رکھتے مگر اپنی محنت کا پھر ان پر ٹھٹھے کرتے ہیں اللہ نے ان سے ٹھٹھا کیا ہے اور ان کے لئے عذاب دردناک ہے [۸۶]

ٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ إِن تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةًۭ فَلَن يَغْفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

istaghfir lahum aw laa tastaghfir lahum in tastaghfir lahum sab'eena marratan falany yaghfiral laahu lahum; zaalika bi annahum kafaroo billaahi wa Rasoolih; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmal faasiqeen

Ask forgiveness for them (O Muhammad), or ask not forgiveness for them; though thou ask forgiveness for them seventy times Allah will not forgive them. That is because they disbelieved in Allah and His messenger, and Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.

تو انکے لئے بخشش مانگ یا نہ مانگ اگر ان کے لئےستر بار بخشش مانگے تو بھی ہرگز نہ بخشے گا انکو اللہ یہ اس واسطے کہ وہ منکر ہوئے اللہ سے اور اس کے رسول سے اور اللہ رستہ نہیں دیتا نافرمان لوگوں کو [۸۷]

فَرِحَ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلَٰفَ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَرِهُوٓا۟ أَن يُجَٰهِدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَالُوا۟ لَا تَنفِرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْحَرِّ ۗ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرًّۭا ۚ لَّوْ كَانُوا۟ يَفْقَهُونَ

Farihal mukhallafoona bimaq'adihim khilaafa Rasoolil laahi wa karihooo ai yujaahidoo bi amwaalihim wa anfusihim fee sabeelil laahi wa qaaloo la tanfiroo fil harr; qul Naaru jahannama ashaddu harraa; law kaanoo yafqahoon

Those who were left behind rejoiced at sitting still behind the messenger of Allah, and were averse to striving with their wealth and their lives in Allah's way. And they said: Go not forth in the heat! Say: The fire of hell is more intense of heat, if they but understood.

خوش ہو گئے پیچھے رہنے والے اپنے بیٹھ رہنے سے جدا ہو کر رسول اللہ سے اور گھبرائے اس سے کہ لڑیں اپنے مال سےاور جان سے اللہ کی راہ میں [۸۸] اور بولے کہ مت کوچ کرو گرمی میں [۸۹] تو کہہ دوزخ کی آگ سخت گرم ہے اگر ان کو سمجھ ہوتی [۹۰]

فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟ قَلِيلًۭا وَلْيَبْكُوا۟ كَثِيرًۭا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

Falyadhakoo qaleelanw walyabkoo kaseeran jazaaa'am bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon

Then let them laugh a little: they will weep much, as the reward of what they used to earn.

سو وہ ہنس لیویں تھوڑ ا اور روویں بہت سا بدلا اس کا جو وہ کماتے تھے [۹۱]

فَإِن رَّجَعَكَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَىٰ طَآئِفَةٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ فَٱسْتَـْٔذَنُوكَ لِلْخُرُوجِ فَقُل لَّن تَخْرُجُوا۟ مَعِىَ أَبَدًۭا وَلَن تُقَٰتِلُوا۟ مَعِىَ عَدُوًّا ۖ إِنَّكُمْ رَضِيتُم بِٱلْقُعُودِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۢ فَٱقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْخَٰلِفِينَ

Fa ir raja'akal laahu ilaa taaa'ifatim minhum fastaaa zanooka lilkhurooji faqul lan takhrujoo ma'iya abadanw a lan tuqaatiloo ma'iya 'aduwwan innakum radeetum bilqu'oodi awwala marratin faq'udoo ma'al khaalifeen

If Allah bring thee back (from the campaign) unto a party of them and they ask of thee leave to go out (to fight), then say unto them: Ye shall never more go out with me nor fight with me against a foe. Ye were content with sitting still the first time. So sit still, with the useless.

سو اگر پھر لے جائے تجھ کو اللہ کسی فرقہ کی طرف ان میں سے [۹۲] پھر اجازت چاہیں تجھ سے نکلنے کی تو تو کہہ دینا کہ تم ہرگز نہ نکلو گے میرے ساتھ کبھی اور نہ لڑو گے میرے ساتھ ہو کر کسی دشمن سے تم کو پسند آیا بیٹھ رہنا پہلی بار سو بیٹھے رہو پیچھے رہنے والوں کے ساتھ [۹۳]

وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٍۢ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَدًۭا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَىٰ قَبْرِهِۦٓ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَمَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ

Wa laa tusalli 'alaaa ahadim minhum maata abadanw wa laa taqum 'alaa qabriheee innahum kafaroo billaahi wa Rasoolihee wa maatoo wa hum faasiqoon

And never (O Muhammad) pray for one of them who dieth, nor stand by his grave. Lo! they disbelieved in Allah and His messenger, and they died while they were evil-doers.

اور نماز نہ پڑھ ان میں سے کسی پر جو مر جائے کبھی اور نہ کھڑا ہو اس کی قبر پر [۹۴] وہ منکر ہوئے اللہ سے اور اسکے رسول سے اور وہ مر گئے نافرمان [۹۵]

وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَأَوْلَٰدُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

Wa laa tu'jibka amwaa luhum wa awlaaduhum; innamaa yureedul laahu ai yu'az zibahum bihaa fid dunyaa wa tazhaqa anfusuhum wa hum kaafiroon

Let not their wealth nor their children please thee! Allah purposeth only to punish them thereby in the world, and that their souls shall pass away while they are disbelievers.

اور تعجب نہ کر ان کے مال اور اولاد سے اللہ تو یہی چاہتا ہے کہ عذاب میں رکھے انکو ان چیزوں کے باعث دنیا میں اور نکلے ان کی جان اور وہ اس وقت تک کافر ہی رہیں [۹۶]

وَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ أَنْ ءَامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَجَٰهِدُوا۟ مَعَ رَسُولِهِ ٱسْتَـْٔذَنَكَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ ذَرْنَا نَكُن مَّعَ ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ

Wa izaaa unzilat Sooratun an aaminoo billaahi wa jaahidoo ma'a Rasoolihis taazanaka uluttawli minhum wa qaaloo zarnaa nakum ma'alqaa 'ideen

And when a surah is revealed (which saith): Believe in Allah and strive along with His messenger, the men of wealth among them still ask leave of thee and say: Suffer us to be with those who sit (at home).

اور جب نازل ہوتی ہے کوئی سورت کہ ایمان لاؤ اللہ پر اور لڑائی کرو اسکے رسول کے ساتھ ہو کر جو تجھ سے رخصت مانگتے ہیں مقدور والے انکے اور کہتے ہیں ہم کو چھوڑ دے کہ رہ جائیں ساتھ بیٹھنے والوں کے

رَضُوا۟ بِأَن يَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْخَوَالِفِ وَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ

Radoo bi ai yakoonoo ma'al khawaalifi wa tubi'a 'alaa quloobihim fahum laa yafqahoon

They are content that they should be with the useless and their hearts are sealed, so that they apprehend not.

خوش ہوئے کہ رہ جائیں پیچھے رہنے والی عورتوں کے ساتھ [۹۷] اور مہر کر دی گئی ان کے دل پر سو وہ نہیں سمجھتے [۹۸]

لَٰكِنِ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ جَٰهَدُوا۟ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتُ ۖ وَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ

Laakinir Rasoolu wal lazeena aamanoo ma'ahoo jaahadoo bi amwaalihim wa anfusihim; wa ulaaa'ika lahumul khairaatu wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon

But the messenger and those who believe with him strive with their wealth and their lives. Such are they for whom are the good things. Such are they who are the successful.

لیکن رسول اور جو لوگ ایمان لائے ہیں ساتھ اسکے وہ لڑے ہیں اپنے مال اور جان سے اور انہی کے لئے ہیں خوبیاں اور وہی ہیں مراد کو پہنچنے والے

أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

A'addal laahu lahum Jannaatin tajree min tahtihal anhaaru khaalideena feehaa; zaalikal fawzul 'azeem

Allah hath made ready for them Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide. That is the supreme triumph.

تیار کر رکھے ہیں اللہ نےانکے واسطے باغ کہ بہتی ہیں نیچے انکے نہریں رہا کریں ان میں یہی ہے بڑی کامیابی [۹۹]

وَجَآءَ ٱلْمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ ۚ سَيُصِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ

Wa jaaa'al mu'az ziroona minal A'raabi liyu'zana lahum wa qa'adal lazeena kazabul laaha wa Rasoolah; sayuseebul lazeena kafaroo minhum 'azaabun aleem

And those among the wandering Arabs who had an excuse came in order that permission might be granted them. And those who lied to Allah and His messenger sat at home. A painful doom will fall on those of them who disbelieve.

اور آئے بہانہ کرنے والے گنوار تاکہ انکو رخصت مل جائے اور بیٹھ رہے جنہوں نے جھوٹ بولا تھا اللہ سے اور اسکے رسول سے اب پہنچے گا انکو جو کافر ہیں ان میں عذاب دردناک [۱۰۰]

لَّيْسَ عَلَى ٱلضُّعَفَآءِ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْمَرْضَىٰ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ إِذَا نَصَحُوا۟ لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۚ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ مِن سَبِيلٍۢ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

Laisa 'alad du'aaaa'i wa laa 'alal mardaa wa laa 'alal lazeena laa yajidoona maa yunfiqoona harajun izaa nasahoo lillaahi wa Rasoolih; maa 'alal muhsineena min sabeel; wallaahu Ghafoorur Raheem

Not unto the weak nor unto the sick nor unto those who can find naught to spend is any fault (to be imputed though they stay at home) if they are true to Allah and His messenger. Not unto the good is there any road (of blame). Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

نہیں ہے ضعیفوں پر اور نہ مریضوں پر اور نہ ان لوگوں پر جنکے پاس نہیں ہے خرچ کرنے کو کچھ گناہ جبکہ دل سےصاف ہوں اللہ اور اسکے رسول کے ساتھ نہیں ہے نیکی والوں پر الزام کی کوئی راہ [۱۰۱] اور اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے [۱۰۲]

وَلَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا مَآ أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَآ أَجِدُ مَآ أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ تَوَلَّوا۟ وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ ٱلدَّمْعِ حَزَنًا أَلَّا يَجِدُوا۟ مَا يُنفِقُونَ

Wa laa 'alal lazeena izaa maaa atawka litahmilahum qulta laaa ajidu maaa ahmilukum 'alaihi tawallaw wa a'yunuhum tafeedu minaddam'i hazanan allaa yajidoo maa yunfiqoon

Nor unto those whom, when they came to thee (asking) that thou shouldst mount them, thou didst tell: I cannot find whereon to mount you. They turned back with eyes flowing with tears, for sorrow that they could not find the means to spend.

اور نہ ان لوگوں پر کہ جب تیرے پاس آئے تاکہ تو ان کو سواری دے تو نے کہا میرے پاس کوئ چیز نہیں کہ تم کو اس پر سوار کر دوں تو الٹے پھرے اور انکی آنکھوں سے بہتے تھے آنسو اس غم میں کہ نہیں پاتے وہ چیز جو خرچ کریں [۱۰۳]

۞ إِنَّمَا ٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَـْٔذِنُونَكَ وَهُمْ أَغْنِيَآءُ ۚ رَضُوا۟ بِأَن يَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْخَوَالِفِ وَطَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Innamas sabeelu 'alal lazeena yastaazinoonaka wa hum aghniyaaa'; radoo biany-yakoonoo ma'al khawaalifi wa taba'al laahu 'alaa quloobihim fahum laa ya'lamoon

The road (of blame) is only against those who ask for leave of thee (to stay at home) when they are rich. They are content to be with the useless. Allah hath sealed their hearts so that they know not.

راہ الزام کی تو ان پر ہے جو رخصت مانگتے ہیں تجھ سے اور وہ مالدار ہیں خوش ہوئے اس بات سے کہ رہ جائیں ساتھ پیچھے رہنے والیوں کے اور مہر کر دی اللہ نے انکے دلوں پر سو وہ نہیں جانتے [۱۰۴]

يَعْتَذِرُونَ إِلَيْكُمْ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ قُل لَّا تَعْتَذِرُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكُمْ قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا ٱللَّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ ۚ وَسَيَرَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

ya'taziroona ilaikum izaa raja'tum ilaihim; qul laa ta'taziroo lan nu'mina lakum qad nabba annal laahu min akhbaarikum; wa sa yaral laahu 'amalakum wa Rasooluhoo suma turaddoona ilaa 'Aalimil Ghaibi washshahaadati fa yunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

They will make excuse to you (Muslims) when ye return unto them. Say: Make no excuse, for we shall not believe you. Allah hath told us tidings of you. Allah and His messenger will see your conduct, and then ye will be brought back unto Him Who knoweth the Invisible as well as the Visible, and He will tell you what ye used to do.

بہانے لائیں گے تمہارے پاس جب تم پھر کر جاؤ گے ان کی طرف تو کہہ بہانے مت بناؤ ہم ہر گز نہ مانیں گے تمہاری بات ہم کو بتا چکا ہے اللہ تمہارے احوال اور ابھی دیکھے گا اللہ تمہارےکام اور اس کا رسول پھر تم لوٹائے جاؤ گے طرف اس جاننے والے چھپے اور کھلے کی سو وہ بتائے گا تم کو جو تم کر رہے تھے [۱۰۵]

سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِٱللَّهِ لَكُمْ إِذَا ٱنقَلَبْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ ۖ فَأَعْرِضُوا۟ عَنْهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌۭ ۖ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

Sa yahlifoona billaahi lakum izanqalabtum ilaihim litu'ridoo 'anhum fa a'ridoo 'anhum innahum rijsunw wa maawaahum jahannamu jazaaa 'ambimaa kaanoo yaksiboon

They will swear by Allah unto you, when ye return unto them, that ye may let them be. Let them be, for lo! they are unclean, and their abode is hell as the reward for what they used to earn.

اب قسمیں کھائیں گے اللہ کی تمہارے سامنے جب تم پھر کر جاؤ گے ان کی طرف تاکہ ان سے درگذر کرو سو تم درگذر کرو ان سے بیشک وہ لوگ پلید ہیں اور ان کا ٹھکانہ دوزخ ہے بدلا ان کے کاموں کا [۱۰۶]

يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْا۟ عَنْهُمْ ۖ فَإِن تَرْضَوْا۟ عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَرْضَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ

Yahlifoona lakum litardaw 'anhum fa in tardaw 'anhum fa innal laaha laa yardaa 'anil qawmil faasiqeen

They swear unto you, that ye may accept them. Though ye accept them. Allah verily accepteth not wrongdoing folk.

وہ لوگ قسمیں کھائیں گے تمہارے سامنے تاکہ تم ان سے راضی ہو جاؤ سو اگر تم راضی ہو گئے ان سے تو اللہ راضی نہیں ہوتا نافرمان لوگوں سے [۱۰۷]

ٱلْأَعْرَابُ أَشَدُّ كُفْرًۭا وَنِفَاقًۭا وَأَجْدَرُ أَلَّا يَعْلَمُوا۟ حُدُودَ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۭ

Al A'raabu ashaddu kufranw wa nifaaqanw wa ajdaru allaa ya'lamoo hudooda maaa anzalal laahu 'alaa Rasoolih; wallaahu 'Aleemun Hakeem

The wandering Arabs are more hard in disbelief and hypocrisy, and more likely to be ignorant of the limits which Allah hath revealed unto His messenger. And Allah is Knower, Wise.

گنوار بہت سخت ہیں کفر میں اور نفاق میں اور اسی لائق ہیں کہ نہ سیکھیں وہ قاعدے جو نازل کئے اللہ نے اپنے رسول پر [۱۰۸] اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے [۱۰۹]

وَمِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ مَغْرَمًۭا وَيَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمُ ٱلدَّوَآئِرَ ۚ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌۭ

Wa minal A'raabi mai yattakhizu maa yunfiqu maghramanw wa yatarabbasu bikumud dawaaa'ir; alaihim daaa'iratus saw'; wallaahu Samee'un 'Aleem

And of the wandering Arabs there is he who taketh that which he expendeth (for the cause of Allah) as a loss, and awaiteth (evil) turns of fortune for you (that he may be rid of it). The evil turn of fortune will be theirs. Allah is Hearer, Knower.

اور بعضے گنوار ایسے ہیں کہ شمار کرتے ہیں اپنے خرچ کرنے کو تاوان اور انتظار کرتے ہیں تم پر زمانہ کی گردشوں کا ان ہی پر آئے گردش بری اور اللہ سننے والا جاننے والا ہے [۱۱۰]

وَمِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَيَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ قُرُبَٰتٍ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَصَلَوَٰتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّهَا قُرْبَةٌۭ لَّهُمْ ۚ سَيُدْخِلُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

Wa minal A'raabi mai yu'minu billaahi wal yawmil AAkhiri wa yattakhizu maa yunfiqu qurubaatin 'indal laahi wa salawaatir Rasool; alaaa innahaa qurbatul lahum; sayudkhiluhumul laahu fee rahmatih; innal laaha Ghafoorur Raheem

And of the wandering Arabs there is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day, and taketh that which he expendeth and also the prayers of the messenger as acceptable offerings in the sight of Allah. Lo! verily it is an acceptable offering for them. Allah will bring them into His mercy. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور بعضے گنوار وہ ہیں کہ ایمان لاتے ہیں اللہ پر اور قیامت کے دن پر اور شمار کرتے ہیں اپنے خرچ کرنے کو نزدیک ہونا اللہ سے اور دعا لینی رسول کی سنتا ہے وہ ان کے حق میں نزدیکی ہے داخل کرے گا انکو اللہ اپنی رحمت میں بیشک اللہ بخشننے والا مہربان ہے [۱۱۱]

وَٱلسَّٰبِقُونَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَٰنٍۢ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى تَحْتَهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Was saabiqoonal awwa loona minal Muhaajireena wal Ansaari wallazeenat taba'oo hum bi ihsaanir radiyal laahu 'anhum wa radoo 'anhu wa a'adda lahum jannnaatin tajree tahtahal anhaaru khaalideena feehaaa abadaa; zaalikal fawzul 'azeem

And the first to lead the way, of the Muhajirin and the Ansar, and those who followed them in goodness - Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He hath made ready for them Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph.

اور جو لوگ قدیم ہیں سب سے پہلے ہجرت کرنے والے اور مدد کرنے والے اور جو انکے پیرو ہوئے نیکی کے ساتھ اللہ راضی ہوا ان سے اور وہ راضی ہوئے اس سے اور تیار کر رکھے ہیں واسطے انکے باغ کہ بہتی ہیں نیچے ان کےنہریں رہا کریں انہی میں ہمیشہ یہی ہے بڑی کامیابی [۱۱۲]

وَمِمَّنْ حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مُنَٰفِقُونَ ۖ وَمِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ ۖ مَرَدُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنِّفَاقِ لَا تَعْلَمُهُمْ ۖ نَحْنُ نَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ سَنُعَذِّبُهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَذَابٍ عَظِيمٍۢ

Wa mimmann hawlakum minal A'raabi munaafiqoona wa min ahlil Madeenati maradoo 'alan nifaaq, laa ta'lamuhum nahnu na'lamuhum; sanu'azzibuhum marrataini summa yuraddoona ilaa 'azaabin 'azeem

And among those around you of the wandering Arabs there are hypocrites, and among the townspeople of Al-Madinah (there are some who) persist in hypocrisy whom thou (O Muhammad) knowest not. We, We know them, and We shall chastise them twice; then they will be relegated to a painful doom.

اور بعضے تمہارے گرد کے گنوار منافق ہیں اور بعضے لوگ مدینہ والے اڑ رہے ہیں نفاق پر تو انکو نہیں جانتا ہم کو وہ معلوم ہیں [۱۱۳] انکو ہم عذاب دیں گے دو بار پھر وہ لوٹائے جائیں گے بڑے عذاب کی طرف [۱۱۴]

وَءَاخَرُونَ ٱعْتَرَفُوا۟ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا۟ عَمَلًۭا صَٰلِحًۭا وَءَاخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ

Wa aakharoona' tarafoo bizunoobihim khalatoo 'amalan saalihanw wa aakhara saiyi'an 'asal laahu ai yatooba 'alaihim; innal laaha Ghafoorur Raheem

And (there are) others who have acknowledged their faults. They mixed a righteous action with another that was bad. It may be that Allah will relent toward them. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

اور بعضے لوگ ہیں کہ اقرار کیا انہوں نے اپنے گناہوں کا ملایا انہوں نے ایک کام نیک اور دوسرا بد قریب ہے کہ اللہ معاف کرے انکو بیشک اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے [۱۱۵]

خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ صَدَقَةًۭ تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّ صَلَوٰتَكَ سَكَنٌۭ لَّهُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ

Khuz min amwaalihim sadaqtan tutahhiruhum wa tuzakkeehim bihaa wa salli 'alaihim inna salaataka sakanul lahum; wallaahu Samee'un 'Aleem

Take alms of their wealth, wherewith thou mayst purify them and mayst make them grow, and pray for them. Lo! thy prayer is an assuagement for them. Allah is Hearer, Knower.

لے انکے مال میں سے زکوٰۃ [۱۱۶] کہ پاک کرے تو انکو اور بابرکت کرے تو انکو اسکی وجہ سے اور دعا دے انکو بیشک تیری دعا ان کے لئے تسکین ہے اور اللہ سب کچھ سنتا جانتا ہے [۱۱۷]

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ يَقْبَلُ ٱلتَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَأْخُذُ ٱلصَّدَقَٰتِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Alam ya'lamooo annnal laaha huwa yaqbalut tawbata 'an ibaadihee wa yaakhuzus sadaqaati wa annal laaha Huwat awwaabur Raheem

Know they not that Allah is He Who accepteth repentance from His bondmen and taketh the alms, and that Allah is He Who is the Relenting, the Merciful.

کیا وہ جان نہیں چکے کہ اللہ آپ قبول کرتا ہے توبہ اپنے بندوں سے اور لیتا ہے زکوٰتیں اور یہ کہ اللہ ہی توبہ قبول کرنے والا مہربان ہے [۱۱۸]

وَقُلِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ فَسَيَرَى ٱللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۖ وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Wa quli'maloo fasayaral laahu 'amalakum wa Rasooluhoo walmu'minoona wa saturaddoona ilaa 'Aalimil Ghaibi washshahaadati fa yunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

And say (unto them): Act! Allah will behold your actions, and (so will) His messenger and the believers, and ye will be brought back to the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, and He will tell you what ye used to do.

اور کہہ کہ عمل کئے جاؤ پھر آگے دیکھ لے گا اللہ تمہارے کام کو اور اس کا رسول اور مسلمان اور تم جلد لوٹائے جاؤ گے اسکے پاس جو تمام چھپی اور کھلی چیزوں سے واقف ہے پھر وہ جتا دے گا تم کو جو کچھ تم کرتے تھے [۱۱۹]

وَءَاخَرُونَ مُرْجَوْنَ لِأَمْرِ ٱللَّهِ إِمَّا يُعَذِّبُهُمْ وَإِمَّا يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۭ

Wa aakharoona murjawna li amril laahi imaa yu'az zibuhum wa immaa yatoobu 'alaihim; wallaahu 'Aleemun Hakeem

And (there are) others who await Allah's decree, whether He will punish them or will forgive them. Allah is Knower, Wise.

اور بعضے اور لوگ ہیں کہ انکا کام ڈھیل میں ہے حکم پر اللہ کے یا وہ انکو عذاب دے اور یا انکو معاف کرے اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے [۱۲۰]

وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مَسْجِدًۭا ضِرَارًۭا وَكُفْرًۭا وَتَفْرِيقًۢا بَيْنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَإِرْصَادًۭا لِّمَنْ حَارَبَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ وَلَيَحْلِفُنَّ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ

Wallazeenat takhazoo masjidan diraaranw wa kufranw wa tafreeqam bainal mu'mineena wa irsaadal liman haarabal laaha wa Rasoolahoo min qabl; wa la yahlifunna in aradnaaa illal husnaa wallaahu yash hadu innahum lakaaziboon

And as for those who chose a place of worship out of opposition and disbelief, and in order to cause dissent among the believers, and as an outpost for those who warred against Allah and His messenger aforetime, they will surely swear: We purposed naught save good. Allah beareth witness that they verily are liars.

اور جنہوں نے بنائی ہے ایک مسجد ضد پر اور کفر پر اور پھوٹ ڈالنے کو مسلمانوں میں اور گھات لگانے کو اس شخص کی جو لڑ رہا ہے اللہ سے اور اسکے رسول سے پہلے سے اور وہ قسمیں کھائیں گے کہ ہم نے تو بھلائی ہی چاہی تھی اور اللہ گواہ ہے کہ وہ جھوٹے ہیں [۱۲۱]

لَا تَقُمْ فِيهِ أَبَدًۭا ۚ لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ أَحَقُّ أَن تَقُومَ فِيهِ ۚ فِيهِ رِجَالٌۭ يُحِبُّونَ أَن يَتَطَهَّرُوا۟ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُطَّهِّرِينَ

Laa taqum feehi abadaa; lamasjidun ussisa 'alat taqwaa min awwali yawmin ahaqqu an taqooma feeh; feehi rijaaluny yuhibbona ai yatatahharoo, wallaahu yuhibbul mmuttah hireen

Never stand (to pray) there. A place of worship which was found upon duty (to Allah) from the first day is more worthy that thou shouldst stand (to pray) therein, wherein are men who love to purify themselves. Allah loveth the purifiers.

تو نہ کھڑا ہو اس میں کبھی البتہ وہ مسجد جسکی بنیاد دھری گئ پرہیزگاری پر اول دن سے وہ لائق ہے کہ تو کھڑا ہو اسمیں اس میں ایسےلوگ ہیں جو دوست رکھتے ہیں پاک رہنے کو اور اللہ دوست رکھتا ہے پاک رہنے والوں کو [۱۲۲]

أَفَمَنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَٰنَهُۥ عَلَىٰ تَقْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنٍ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَٰنَهُۥ عَلَىٰ شَفَا جُرُفٍ هَارٍۢ فَٱنْهَارَ بِهِۦ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Afaman assasa bunyaa nahoo 'alaa taqwaa minal laahi wa ridwaanin khairun am man assasa bunyaanahoo 'alaa shafaa jurufin haarin fanhaara bihee fee Naari Jahannnam; wallaahu laa yahdil qawmaz zaalimeen

Is he who founded his building upon duty to Allah and His good pleasure better; or he who founded his building on the brink of a crumbling, overhanging precipice so that it toppled with him into the fire of hell? Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.

بھلا جس نے بنیاد رکھی اپنی عمارت کی اللہ سے ڈرنے پر اور اسکی رضامندی پر وہ بہتر یا جس نے بنیاد رکھی اپنی عمارت کی کنارہ پر ایک کھائی کے جو گرنے کو ہے پھر اسکو لیکر ڈھے پڑا دوزخ کی آگ میں [۱۲۳] اور اللہ راہ نہیں دیتا ظالم لوگوں کو [۱۲۴]

لَا يَزَالُ بُنْيَٰنُهُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَنَوْا۟ رِيبَةًۭ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَّآ أَن تَقَطَّعَ قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ

Laa yazaalu bunyaanu humul lazee banaw reebatan fee quloobihim illaaa an taqatta'a quloobuhum; wal laahu 'Aleemun Hakeem

The building which they built will never cease to be a misgiving in their hearts unless their hearts be torn to pieces. Allah is Knower, Wise.

ہمیشہ رہے گا اس عمارت سے جو انہوں نے بنائی تھی شبہ انکے دلوں میں مگر جب ٹکڑے ہو جائیں انکے دل کے اور اللہ سب کچھ جاننے والا حکمت والا ہے [۱۲۵]

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ ٱلْجَنَّةَ ۚ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ ۖ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّۭا فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَٱلْإِنجِيلِ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ فَٱسْتَبْشِرُوا۟ بِبَيْعِكُمُ ٱلَّذِى بَايَعْتُم بِهِۦ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ

Innal laahash taraa minal mu'mineena anfusahum wa amwaalahum bi anna lahumul jannah; yuqaatiloona fee sabeelil laahi fa yaqtuloona wa yuqtaloona wa'dan 'alaihi haqqan fit Tawraati wal Injeeli wal Qur-aan; wa man awfaa be'ahdihee minal laah; fastabshiroo bibai'ikumul lazee baaya'tum bih; wa zaalika huwal fawzul 'azeem

Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs: they shall fight in the way of Allah and shall slay and be slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. Who fulfilleth His covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made, for that is the supreme triumph.

اللہ نے خرید لی مسلمانوں سے ان کی جان اور ان کا مال اس قیمت پر کہ انکے لئے جنت ہے لڑتے ہیں اللہ کی راہ میں پھر مارتے ہیں اور مرتے ہیں وعدہ ہو چکا اسکے ذمہ پر سچا توریت اور انجیل اور قرآن میں اور کون ہے قول کا پورا اللہ سے زیادہ سو خوشیاں کرو اس معاملہ پر جو تم نے کیا ہے اس سے اور یہ یہی ہے بڑی کامیابی [۱۲۶]

ٱلتَّٰٓئِبُونَ ٱلْعَٰبِدُونَ ٱلْحَٰمِدُونَ ٱلسَّٰٓئِحُونَ ٱلرَّٰكِعُونَ ٱلسَّٰجِدُونَ ٱلْءَامِرُونَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ وَٱلنَّاهُونَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنكَرِ وَٱلْحَٰفِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

At taaa'iboonal 'aabidoonal haamidoonas saaa'ihoonar raaki'oonas saajidoonal aamiroona bilma'roofi wannaahoona 'anil munkari walhaafizoona lihudoodil laah; wa bashshiril mu'mineen

(Triumphant) are those who turn repentant (to Allah), those who serve (Him), those who praise (Him), those who fast, those who bow down, those who fall prostrate (in worship), those who enjoin the right and who forbid the wrong and those who keep the limits (ordained) of Allah - And give glad tidings to believers!

وہ توبہ کرنے والے ہیں بندگی کرنے والے شکر کرنے والے بے تعلق رہنے والے [۱۲۷] رکوع کرنے والے سجدہ کرنے والے حکم کرنے والے نیک بات کا اور منع کرنے والے بری بات سے [۱۲۸] اور حفاظت کرنے والے ان حدود کی جو باندھی اللہ نے اور خوشخبری سنا دے ایمان والوں کو [۱۲۹]

مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَن يَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓا۟ أُو۟لِى قُرْبَىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Maa kaana lin nabiyyi wallazeena aamanooo ai yastaghfiroo lilmushrikeena wa law kaanoo ulee qurbaa mim ba'di maa tabiyana lahum annahum Ashaabul jaheem

It is not for the Prophet, and those who believe, to pray for the forgiveness of idolaters even though they may be near of kin (to them) after it hath become clear that they are people of hell-fire.

لائق نہیں نبی کو اور مسلمانوں کو کہ بخشش چاہیں مشرکوں کی اور اگرچہ وہ ہوں قرابت والے جب کہ کھل چکا ان پر کہ وہ ہیں دوزخ والے [۱۳۰]

وَمَا كَانَ ٱسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَن مَّوْعِدَةٍۢ وَعَدَهَآ إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥٓ أَنَّهُۥ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ ۚ إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَأَوَّٰهٌ حَلِيمٌۭ

Wa maa kaanas tighfaaru ibraaheema li abeehi illaa 'ammaw 'idatinw wa 'adahaaa iyyaahu falammaa tabaiyana lahooo annahoo 'aduwwul lillaahi tabarra a minh; inna Ibraaheema la awwaahum haleem

The prayer of Abraham for the forgiveness of his father was only because of a promise he had promised him, but when it had become clear unto him that he (his father) was an enemy to Allah he (Abraham) disowned him. Lo! Abraham was soft of heart, long-suffering.

اور بخشش مانگنا ابراہیم کا اپنے باپ کے واسطے سو نہ تھا مگر وعدہ کے سبب کہ وعدہ کر چکا تھا اس سے پھر جب کھل گیا ابراہیم پر کہ وہ دشمن ہے اللہ کا تو اس سے بیزار ہو گیا بیشک ابراہیم بڑا نرم دل تھا تحمل کرنے والا [۱۳۱]

وَمَا كَانَ ٱللَّهُ لِيُضِلَّ قَوْمًۢا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَىٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُبَيِّنَ لَهُم مَّا يَتَّقُونَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

Wa maa kaanal laahu liyudilla qawmam ba'da iz hadaahum hatta yubaiyina lahum maa yattaqoon; innal laaha bikulli shai'in 'Aleem

It was never Allah's (part) that He should send a folk astray after He had guided them until He had made clear unto them what they should avoid. Lo! Allah is Aware of all things.

اور اللہ ایسا نہیں کہ گمراہ کرے کسی قوم کو جبکہ ان کو راہ پر لا چکا جب تک کھول نہ دے ان پر جس سے انکو بچنا چاہئے بیشک اللہ ہر چیز سے واقف ہے [۱۳۲]

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ ۚ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا نَصِيرٍۢ

Innal laaha lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal ardi yuhyee wa yumeet; wa maa lakum min doonil laahi minw waliyyinw wa laa naseer

Lo! Allah! Unto Him belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. He quickeneth and He giveth death. And ye have, instead of Allah, no protecting friend nor helper.

اللہ ہی کی ہے سلطنت ہے آسمانوں اور زمین میں جلاتا ہے اور مارتا ہے اور تمہارا کوئی نہیں اللہ کے سوا حمایتی اور نہ مددگار [۱۳۳]

لَّقَد تَّابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ وَٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُ فِى سَاعَةِ ٱلْعُسْرَةِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا كَادَ يَزِيغُ قُلُوبُ فَرِيقٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِهِمْ رَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

Laqat taabal laahu 'alan nabiyyi wal Muhaajireena wal Ansaaril lazeenat taba'oohu fee saa'atil 'usrati mim ba'di maa kaada yazeeghu quloobu fareeqim minhum summma taaba 'alaihim; innahoo bihim Ra'oofur Raheem

Allah hath turned in mercy to the Prophet, and to the Muhajirin and the Ansar who followed him in the hour of hardship. After the hearts of a party of them had almost swerved aside, then turned He unto them in mercy. Lo! He is Full of Pity, Merciful for them.

اللہ مہربان ہوا نبی پر اور مہاجرین اور انصار پر جو ساتھ رہے نبی کے مشکل کی گھڑی میں [۱۳۴] بعد اسکے کہ قریب تھا کہ دل پھر جائیں بعضوں کے ان میں سے پھر مہربان ہوا ان پر بیشک وہ ان پر مہربان ہے رحم کرنے والا [۱۳۵]

وَعَلَى ٱلثَّلَٰثَةِ ٱلَّذِينَ خُلِّفُوا۟ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَن لَّا مَلْجَأَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّآ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوبُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Wa 'alas salaasatil lazeena khullifoo hattaaa izaa daaqat 'alaihimul ardu bimaa rahubat wa daaqat 'alaihim anfusuhum wa zannnooo al laa malja-a minal laahi illaaa ilaihi summa taaba 'alaihim liyatooboo; innal laaha Huwat Tawwaabur Raheem

And to the three also (did He turn in mercy) who were left behind, when the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for them, and their own souls were straitened for them till they bethought them that there is no refuge from Allah save toward Him. Then turned He unto them in mercy that they (too) might turn (repentant unto Him). Lo! Allah! He is the Relenting, the Merciful.

اور ان تین شخصوں پر جن کو پیچھے رکھا تھا [۱۳۶] یہاں تک کہ جب تنگ ہو گئی ان پر زمین باوجود کشادہ ہونے کے اور تنگ ہو گئیں ان پر ان کی جانیں اور سمجھ گئے کہ کہیں پناہ نہیں اللہ سے مگر اس کی طر ف پھر مہربان ہوا ان پر تاکہ وہ پھر آئیں بیشک اللہ ہی ہے مہربان رحم والا [۱۳۷]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanut taqul laaha wa koonoo ma'as saadiqeen

O ye who believe! Be careful of your duty to Allah, and be with the truthful.

اے ایمان والو ڈرتے رہو اللہ سے اور رہو ساتھ سچوں کے [۱۳۸]

مَا كَانَ لِأَهْلِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ أَن يَتَخَلَّفُوا۟ عَن رَّسُولِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُوا۟ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيبُهُمْ ظَمَأٌۭ وَلَا نَصَبٌۭ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌۭ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَطَـُٔونَ مَوْطِئًۭا يَغِيظُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّۢ نَّيْلًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عَمَلٌۭ صَٰلِحٌ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

Maa kaana li ahlil Madeenati wa man hawlahum minal A'raabi ai yatakhallafoo 'ar-Rasoolil laahi wa laa yarghaboo bi anfusihim 'an nafsih; zaalika bi annahum laa yuseebuhum zama unw wa laa nasabunw wa laa makhmasatun fee sabeelil laahi wa laa yata'oona mawti'ai yagheezul kuffaara wa laa yanaaloona min 'aduwwin nailan illaa kutiba lahum bihee 'amalun saalih; innal laaha laa yudee'u ajral muhsineen

It is not for the townsfolk of Al-Madinah and for those around them of the wandering Arabs so stay behind the messenger of Allah and prefer their lives to his life. That is because neither thirst nor toil nor hunger afflicteth them in the way of Allah, nor step they any step that angereth the disbelievers, nor gain they from the enemy a gain, but a good deed is recorded for them therefor. Lo! Allah loseth not the wages of the good.

نہ چاہئے مدینہ والوں کو اور انکے گرد کے گنواروں کو کہ پیچھے رہ جائیں رسول اللہ کے ساتھ سے اور نہ یہ کہ اپنی جان کو چاہیں زیادہ رسول کی جان سے [۱۳۹] یہ اس واسطے کہ جہاد کرنے والے نہیں پہنچتی انکو پیاس اور نہ محنت اور نہ بھوک اللہ کی راہ میں اور نہیں قدم رکھتے کہیں جس سے کہ خفا ہوں کافر اور نہ چھینتے ہیں دشمن سے کوئی چیز مگر لکھا جاتا ہے ان کے واسطے اسکے بدلے نیک عمل بیشک اللہ نہیں ضائع کرتا حق نیکی کرنے والوں کا [۱۴۰]

وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ نَفَقَةًۭ صَغِيرَةًۭ وَلَا كَبِيرَةًۭ وَلَا يَقْطَعُونَ وَادِيًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُمْ لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

Wa laa yunfiqoona nafa qatan sagheeratanw wa laa kabeeratanw wa laa yaqta'oona waadiyan illaa kutiba lahum liyajziyahumul laahu ahsana maa kaanoo ya'maloon

Nor spend they any spending, small or great, nor do they cross a valley, but it is recorded for them, that Allah may repay them the best of what they used to do.

اور نہ خرچ کرتے ہیں کوئی خرچ چھوٹا اور نہ بڑا اور نہ طے کرتے ہیں کوئی میدان مگر لکھ لیا جاتا ہے انکے واسطے [۱۴۱] تاکہ بدلا دے ان کو اللہ بہتر اس کام کا جو کرتے تھے [۱۴۲]

۞ وَمَا كَانَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ لِيَنفِرُوا۟ كَآفَّةًۭ ۚ فَلَوْلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍۢ مِّنْهُمْ طَآئِفَةٌۭ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُوا۟ فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلِيُنذِرُوا۟ قَوْمَهُمْ إِذَا رَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَحْذَرُونَ

Wa maa kaanal mu'minoona liyanfiroo kaaaffah; falaw laa nafara min kulli firqatim minhum taaa'ifatul liyatafaqqahoo fiddeeni wa liyunziroo qawmahum izaa raja'ooo ilaihim la'allahum yahzaroon

And the believers should not all go out to fight. Of every troop of them, a party only should go forth, that they (who are left behind) may gain sound knowledge in religion, and that they may warn their folk when they return to them, so that they may beware.

اور ایسے تو نہیں مسلمان کہ کوچ کریں سارے سو کیوں نہ نکلا ہر فرقہ میں سے ان کا ایک حصہ تاکہ سمجھ پیدا کریں دین میں اور تاکہ خبر پہنچائیں اپنی قوم کو جب کہ لوٹ کر آئیں ان کی طرف تاکہ وہ بچتے رہیں [۱۴۳]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ قَٰتِلُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يَلُونَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ وَلْيَجِدُوا۟ فِيكُمْ غِلْظَةًۭ ۚ وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo qaatilul lazeena yaloonakum minal kuffaari walyajidoo feekum ghilzah; wa'lamooo annal laaha ma'al muttaqeen

O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).

اے ایمان والو لڑتے جاؤ اپنے نزدیک کے کافروں سے [۱۴۴] اور چاہئے کہ ان پر معلوم ہو تمہارے اندر سختی [۱۴۵] اور جانو کہ اللہ ساتھ ہے ڈر والوں کے [۱۴۶]

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌۭ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَٰذِهِۦٓ إِيمَٰنًۭا ۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَٰنًۭا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

Wa izaa maaa unzilat Sooratun faminhum mai yaqoolu aiyukum zaadat hu haazihee eemaanaa; fa ammal lazeena aamanoo fazaadat hum eemaananw wa hum yastabshiroon

And whenever a surah is revealed there are some of them who say: Which one of you hath thus increased in faith? As for those who believe, it hath increased them in faith and they rejoice (therefor).

اور جب نازل ہوتی ہے کوئی سورت تو بعضے ان میں کہتے ہیں کس کا تم میں سے زیادہ کر دیا اس سورت نے ایمان سو جو لوگ ایمان رکھتے ہیں ان کا زیادہ کر دیا اس سورت نے ایمان اور وہ خوش وقت ہوتے ہیں

وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌۭ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْسًا إِلَىٰ رِجْسِهِمْ وَمَاتُوا۟ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ

Wa ammal lazeena fee quloobihim maradun fazaadat hum rijsan ilaa rijsihim wa maatoo wa hum kaafiroon

But as for those in whose hearts is disease, it only addeth wickedness to their wickedness, and they die while they are disbelievers.

اور جنکے دل میں مرض ہے سو انکے لئے بڑھا دی گندگی پر گندگی اور وہ مرنے تک کافر ہی رہے [۱۴۷]

أَوَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِى كُلِّ عَامٍۢ مَّرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوبُونَ وَلَا هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

Awalaa yarawna annahum yuftanoona fee kulli 'aamim marratan aw marrataini summa laa yatooboona wa laa hum yazzakkkaroon

See they not that they are tested once or twice in every year? Still they turn not in repentance, neither pay they heed.

کیا نہیں دیکھتے کہ وہ آزمائے جاتے ہیں ہر برس میں ایک بار یا دو بار پھر بھی توبہ نہیں کرتے اور نہ وہ نصیحت پکڑتے ہیں [۱۴۸]

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌۭ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ هَلْ يَرَىٰكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍۢ ثُمَّ ٱنصَرَفُوا۟ ۚ صَرَفَ ٱللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌۭ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ

Wa izaa maaa unzilat Sooratun nazara ba'duhum ilaa ba'din hal yaraakum min ahadin summman sarafoo; sarafal laahu quloobahum bi annahum qawmul laa yafqahoon

And whenever a surah is revealed, they look one at another (as who should say): Doth anybody see you? Then they turn away. Allah turneth away their hearts because they are a folk who understand not.

اور جب نازل ہوتی ہے کوئی سورت تو دیکھنے لگتا ہے ان میں ایک دوسرے کی طرف کہ کیا دیکھتا ہے تم کو کوئی مسلمان پھر چل دیتےہیں [۱۴۹] پھیر دیے ہیں اللہ نے دل ان کے اس واسطے کہ وہ لوگ ہیں کہ سمجھ نہیں رکھتے [۱۵۰]

لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٌۭ مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُم بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَءُوفٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ

Laqad jaaa'akum Rasoolum min anfusikum 'azeezun 'alaihi maa 'anittum hareesun 'alaikum bilmu'mineena ra'oofur raheem

There hath come unto you a messenger, (one) of yourselves, unto whom aught that ye are overburdened is grievous, full of concern for you, for the believers full of pity, merciful.

آیا ہے تمہارے پاس رسول تم میں کا [۱۵۱] بھاری ہے اس پر جو تم کو تکلیف پہنچے [۱۵۲] حریص ہے تمہارے بھلائی پر [۱۵۳] ایمان والوں پر نہایت شفیق مہربان ہے [۱۵۴]

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُلْ حَسْبِىَ ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

Fa in tawallaw faqul lhasbiyal laahu laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa 'alaihi tawakkkaltu wa Huwa Rabbul 'Arshil 'Azeem

Now, if they turn away (O Muhammad) say: Allah sufficeth me. There is no Allah save Him. In Him have I put my trust, and He is Lord of the Tremendous Throne.

پھر بھی اگر منہ پھیریں تو کہہ دے کہ کافی ہے مجھ کو اللہ کسی کی بندگی نہیں اسکے سوا اسی پر میں نے بھروسہ کیا اور وہی مالک ہے عرش عظیم کا [۱۵۵]
