Ash-Shams

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا

Wash shamsi wa duhaa haa

By the sun and his brightness,

قسم سورج اور اُسکے دھوپ چڑھنے کی

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا

Wal qamari izaa talaa haa

And the moon when she followeth him,

اور چاند کی جب آئے سورج کے پیچھے [۱]

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا

Wannahaari izaa jallaa haa

And the day when it revealeth him,

اور دن کی جب اُسکو روشن کر لے [۲]

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا

Wallaili izaa yaghshaa haa

And the night when it enshroudeth him,

اور رات کی جب اسکو ڈھانک لیوے [۳]

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا

Wassamaaa'i wa maa banaahaa

And the heaven and Him Who built it,

اور آسمان کی اور جیسا کہ اُسکو بنایا [۴]

وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا

Wal ardi wa maa tahaahaa

And the earth and Him Who spread it,

اور زمین کی اور جیسا کہ اُسکو پھیلایا [۵]

وَنَفْسٍۢ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا

Wa nafsinw wa maa sawwaahaa

And a soul and Him Who perfected it

اور جی کی اور جیسا کہ اُسکو ٹھیک بنایا [۶]

فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا

Fa-alhamahaa fujoorahaa wa taqwaahaa

And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it.

پھر سمجھ دی اُسکو ڈھٹائی کی اور بچ کر چلنے کی [۷]

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا

Qad aflaha man zakkaahaa

He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow,

تحقیق مراد کو پہنچا جس نے اُسکو سنوار لیا [۸]

وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا

Wa qad khaaba man dassaahaa

And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it.

اور نامراد ہوا جس نے اُسکو خاک میں ملا چھوڑا [۹]

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ

Kazzabat Samoodu bi taghwaahaaa

(The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride,

جھٹلایا ثمود نے اپنی شرارت سے [۰ا]

إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا

Izim ba'asa ashqaahaa

When the basest of them broke forth

جب اٹھ کھڑا ہوا اُن میں کا بڑ ابدبخت [۱۱]

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا

Faqaala lahum Rasoolul laahi naaqatal laahi wa suqiyaahaa

And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink!

پھر کہاں اُنکو اللہ کے رسول نے خبردار ہو اللہ کی اونٹنی سے اور اُسکی پانی پینے کی باری سے [۱۲]

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا

Fakazzaboohu fa'aqaroohaa fadamdama 'alaihim Rabbuhum bizambihim fasaw waahaa

But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings).

پھر انہوں نے اُسکو جھٹلایا پھر پاؤں کاٹ ڈالے اُسکے پھر الٹ مارا اُن پر اُنکے رب نے بسبب اُنکے گناہوں کے پھر برابر کر دیا سب کو [۱۳]

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا

Wa laa yakhaafu'uqbaahaa

He dreadeth not the sequel (of events).

اور وہ نہیں ڈرتا پیچھا کرنے سے [۱۴]
